烏來國際岩湯 — Local services in New Taipei

Had planned to go to Volando Urai Spring Spa but the onsen was closed to the public for maintenance. Hence, I just so happened to give this place a try and boy, was i lucky to find this place.

Apparently this establishment has been around for very long… I thought the onsen would be old and dated, but I was pleasantly surprised as to how clean, and beautiful looking it is. It kinda reminded me of a traditional Japanese onsen. The public onsen is a mixed gender onsen, so you definitely need to prepare your swimsuits before going there. They offer free swim cap at the desk should you decide to take a dip in the swimming pool.

There are 3-4 hot springs with varied temperatures. The waters are filled with minerals from the hotsprings and it makes your skin silky and soft. When I was there, the place was empty so I literally had the whole place to myself, which was amazing. But I was thinking if it was peak period, the pools can be too small to accommodate a large crowd. Still, I like how each hotspring pool are private enough.

There’s also a deck with tables where you can chill out. It used to overlook the Wulai river but they have since built a wall between the river and the observation deck… so there’s not much of a view really.

There are several pools of different temperatures that are clearly shown on digital signs. There is a larger cooler pool good for kids to swim in. The hot spring provides towels, hair dryers, swim suit drying machines. They have showers with body soap and shampoo, including hand held shower head. They also have a menu of snacks and desserts. Excellent Hot Springs with a variety of pools with different temperatures, cold baths, dry sauna, steam room, and a small swimming pool, all fed with the natural spring water with absolutely no chlorine smell or chemicals.
