By far the best Taiwanese fried chicken joint. They are made with the freshest oils that they import from abroad and regularly changes it. It’s much more juicy and tender compared to hotstar and it’s made really fresh. They have a few flavours and I tried the spicy and plum ones and they were good. My favourite was the original spices. I also tried fish balls, potato balls and their nuggets and they were all so good. The little store is tucked away from the main night market but definitely worth a visit

If you’re getting fried chicken then you need to get it here. Amazing chicken and I love that they cut it up for you (photo was taken before they cut it up). This makes it so much easier to eat especially when you’re walking around. Also got some fried king oyster mushrooms which was just as amazing. The prices is so much better compared to the other booths and you get higher quality food.

If you’re getting fried chicken then you need to get it here. Amazing chicken and I love that they cut it up for you (photo was taken before they cut it up). One of the, if not the, best fried chicken in Shi Lin.

Contratrary to popular believe, Hot Star and the other Chicken Cutlet right opposite JianTan MRT (with the perpetual long queue) are NOT the better chicken cutlets at Shilin.

We got introduced to this store by another fellow store owner selling Fried Ice Scream (just nearby, MUST CHECK OUT). He recommended 516 Chicken to us and said that's the store locals go to, for 2 reasons:

  1. It has more meat, unlike those 'outsude' (hotstar etc), which is mostly skin
  2. It's cheaper (at 60NT per piece)

I tried all 3 stores, and this is the best. The meat is significantly thicker, juicer, but still tender.

The store seems very run down and shabby and tucked at a corner, which is why ordinary visitors will miss it amidst the shiny stores outside with long queues.

Store owners (2 young guys) were really friendly, l smiley and chit chats with you.

Definitely worth you to visit, and not the other 2...

Came here after seeing the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Google, left with no disappointment at all. The chicken fillet was freshly fried and popular among the locals. Its ambiance may put you off a bit but the brothers kept the cooking area extremely clean. I’d personally recommend the plum flavour, the slight sourness of the plum powder gives a refreshing touch to the tender fillet. Best fried chicken in the...
