We stayed at Sol Living apartment for 2 weeks during October 2021. Seemed like were paid quite a premium, I’m assuming this is because the Expo was about to start. There were 5 star hotels that were cheaper but we wanted the convenience of a washing machine. If I was to describe our experience with 2 words I’d choose “Bare Minimum”
First let’s start with the positives. -The apartment is presented as clean, pretty spacious and has a decent amount of storage. The washing machine was particularly useful for us. I felt the bed and cushions were very comfortable and this is something I struggle with when staying away from home. -The pool area is nice and well maintained. The gym is pretty adequate to have a workout away from home, although it could do with providing hand towels and a water dispenser. -The staff are trying their best to be helpful. There are plenty of people onsite with various jobs always hard at work.
Major Issues -The configuration of the room was strange and consisted of one window to the bedroom. An internal window with a curtain to open up to the living room but this still means that the living area is pretty dark unless you have the lights on. Pretty poor to come to sunny Dubai and being face with such a dark room. -One of the main reasons for booking this apartment was because the description read “Business Bay metro station is available within minutes,” now this is not the case. The station is actually a 10 min taxi ride away depending on traffic. When I asked the staff to escalate this to their management team, the response came back that the station its minutes away by car. If I’m on holiday, why would I want a metro station minutes away by car? Poor response and misleading description on the listing. -As you open the door leading to the balcony – it’s quite pleasant and a decent size. Except there is not seating, also its covered in dust because it overlooks a noisy building site. Even the pavement that leads to the local grocery shop has not been paved, although there is a shop opening soon on the ground floor of the apartment building. -For a 2 week stay we were given one set of towels each. Not enough when you need to shower constantly in a hot country so I was having to do the washing far more often than I’d like to -No cleaning products at all, we had to purchase washing up liquid, toilet bleach, cleaning cloths and all other consumables. You are given 1 set of tiny shampoo/soap in the bathroom and 2 toilet rolls and that’s it. I don’t mind having to buy my own shower gel and shampoo but just 2 toilet rolls? There was nothing in the room that could be used for cleaning, not even a dustpan and brush. There were no trash bags available for 5 days, even then we were given just 2, the bare minimum. There should be a roll in each unit! Cleaning was available as payable extra but I could have cleaned myself, had they provided a vacuum or cleaning materials. After moaning complaining, we were finally given some additional towels and provided with a complimentary clean so thankful for that. I feel extra towels should have been given in the first place. Having stayed in plenty of Airbnb's I’ve never had to pay for my own washing up liquid/scrubber or dish cloths.
Minor Issues -Location apart from not being close to the station, also has no restaurants or shops are within walking distance, you’ll have to take a taxi. Its far too hot to walk to far out. -I said the apartment was clean but we found a dirty, smelly towel in one of the wardrobes. -We received a mail after we left asking for a five star review but to message them first if we were not going to leave a 5 star review. Obviously no concept of how an honest review works. EDIT - received an Airbnb message to say we left the apartment dirty. This is false, we left all the trash next to the bin, the garbage shoot was full so we couldn't throw it away. Other then that, place was left clean. Also I didn't keep complaining about the view, I kept complaining about the lack...
Read moreI'm really enjoying my stay at SOL LIVING Dubai! I've been staying here for the past two weeks and I'm honestly so comfortable, it feels like home. My studio is fully furnished and is compact, cozy and clean. Most items are provided such as utensils, kitchen appliances, cutlery etc, so you can feel at home, cook your own food etc. And I love the fact the TV comes equipped with Netflix and YouTube so you can still watch your favourite shows. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, particularly Jennifer and Fawad who have really gone above and beyond to ensure I enjoy the rest of my stay here. There is some construction in the area, but it's not an issue as I haven't been distracted by that. The location is good, a bit far to walk to the nearest metro but it's still a decent location as it's near some of the main attractions including the Burj Khalifa. The rooftop pool is also lush and the supermarket downstairs is very handy!...
Read moreI would strongly advise any one wishing to rent temporary housing or holiday villas from this company. They are dishonest. They rented us a villa under complete false pretences. When we arrived to the villa we found that the villa was not as described on top of this both the villas either side were under construction we had small children and with us and was unable to stay in the villa due to construction noise. When we complained we had to fight for our money back eventually they paid us only a small portion of the rent we paid in advance and told us that is all they would offer. I strongly recommend anyone not to do any rents with this company you will be disappointed and...
