Roma Chippy — Local services in Bolton

I’m coeliac and came here because I heard it was good for Gluten Free. I’m always sceptical.

I had chips, mushy peas and a garlic bread with cheese. All were delicious. All were gluten free. The server asked me if I had an intolerance or if I was coeliac - which is normally information I have to offer rather than get asked - and went on to say that they serve at least 10 coeliacs a day.

The food was great, the server was lovely. And the price was extremely reasonable! Cannot recommend this place enough.

OH and when we were heading to the place my friend asked if I like a lot of salt and vinegar on my chips and I said “well, I don’t really have vinegar anymore because it’s not gluten free”. Deliveroo order was 2 hours late. Of course this is not the fault of the team at Roma chippy. But when my order finally arrived at 9PM on a Sunday night (late dinner, anyone), there were a number of problems: the salad was placed on the hot chicken and turned disgusting. (hot lettuce, anyone?) the chicken was grilled chicken breast, with no flavour. Not even salt. I ordered gluten free chicken shish. I had no idea it was going to be dry AF chicken breast with no seasoning. I could have made this myself at home. chips were average at best.

This place got a 2 hygiene rating on the 30th September 2021, which I wish I'd have known before ordering.
