Visited August 2021. An older premier inn, to the extent the key card is one where you have to insert into the door lock to open, and is missing some of the features of up to date rooms. The main thing the rooms here badly need is air con! I was given a ground floor room, by the main entrance. It was very very hot in the room (25 degrees plus) despite outside temps being no more than 23 and down to 13-15 overnight, and without air con the only way to try and cool it down was to keep the window open. However, people were constantly walking past, stopping to talk, and cars coming and going or even parking to load/unload people, all right outside the window. Therefore keeping it open was just not possible. The fan provided was tiny and had no effect. Their website does state the rooms didn't have air con, so given the hot weather at the time I would have expected them to realise people would need to keep the windows open and so not use the rooms where I was. There must be something about the building's construction, as even when the temperatures dipped overnight the whole building seemed hotter by morning!
Another thing to note is that the adjacent pub/restaurant is not open, so you have to go out to get food. That is either a long walk or a car/taxi ride away at the shopping centre or further along the road the hotel is on.
I would stay again but would try to keep it to the colder months, or if a summer visit then would only accept an upper floor room to allow the window to be left open overnight without concern someone may try getting in or scare the s**t out of me by talking outside of it in the middle...
Read moreI can't give the Premier Inn less than five stars as it has been recently updated and the rooms are excellent. The television is larger than usual and has HDMI input and there are charging points on either side of the bed. However, if I could review the breakfast separately I would give it only one star. Breakfast is served in the next door Greene King pub and frankly was a disgrace. The continental buffet was tired and stale. The red fruits that we always look forward to tasted like watered down strawberry jam and the croissant I had was not recently baked. If anything, the cooked food was worse. Poor quality ingredients badly cooked. If you ask for mushrooms you get one flat brown mushroom about two inches across. The final insult was the fact that only instant coffee was included. Proper coffee from the bean to cup machine behind the bar would have cost extra, can you believe? When we checked out I have to admit I was quite frank about our breakfast experience with the receptionist, Andrea, who I would like to recommend for receptionist of the year. We'll certainly be back to this...
Read moreSo with being here several times, the hotel is modern helpful, Dean was super helpful. knowledge about the area and car parks. The other gentleman helped sort out card entry that I locked myself out from.
The downside is USB ports instead of plugs.. modern doesn't mean become apple and loose useful mechanisms.
The Hotel breakfast here starts at 7am whereas other place is 6.30am so I never get breakfast which is pants.
The restaurant part Beehive is nice, with freaking amazing staff but the shame part is the range on the menu.
The toilet tissue business is shocking!! it's like boogie tissue cant use those tissues for after wee let alone after POO, this tissue dispenser needs to change.
The bed is comfortable, pillows and duvet perfect. TV great size, good facilities. WOULD LOVE FOOD DELIVERED TO THE ROOM.
I hope my next visit, food menu may change and tissue dispenser changed.
October 27th 30th Visit
Food menu changed FAB Breakfast still 7 til 9 :(.
