Booked here for the fabulous bottomless brunch - which is available late with unlimited cocktails and a meal item. Our host (want to say Vanessa?) a Portuguese lady, was fantastic. Warm friendly helpful and attentive. Service gets 5 stars. I love his place. I also loved it as Chiquitos and here in is the disappointment. The decor is almost untouched, it's simply a rebrand. While the bottomless brunch is a great deal, the menu is a bit disappointing. meal items described as a main actually incorporate some of the starters/snacks of the main menu. You can get a burger but you pay extra for fries. Worryingly, whenever I visited Chiquitos it was always busy and lively - and despite us attending on a Friday night, it was quiet. Getting sloshed on bottomless cocktails is more fun if everyone is joining in. So, people of Bolton/Horwich - get on it!! Ideal for parties, celebrations or a pre-match ritual. Or for couples that like getting squiffy and tumbling into a cab home at a reasonable hour and for a set price!! The cocktails were brilliantly made but the menu is slightly more restricted than, say, Turtle Bay. They were better and some quite potent ones in there, but the choice doesn't stretch to the full cocktail menu. On the other hand, you can order a shot plus mixer or a pint of corona so you can't say there isn't something for everyone. I liked it, (but I loved chiquitos) and will be returning, I think the food to soak up the booze needs to be a little more generous. 2 hours on cocktails a modest burger (albeit done excellently and very tasty) doesn't cut it without fries etc. Maybe a bottomless sharing platter of smaller items based on group size and replenished as needed would be ideal. By all means, I'd pay another £8, say for this and would feel very happy. See you again soon and obrigado to our...
Read moreProbably ok if you have never tried authentic Brazilian and Mexican food. For starters we had the fried chicken which was ok, and then the honey habenero wings, they were very nice. For mains we had a mixed grill, which was supposed to be one fillet steak skewer (definitely wasn't) and tasted like lamb 😂 and the chicken skewer looked anemic so didn't try it. We also had mixed fajitas. Chicken was nice in this and the steak was all fatty, so didn't rate that. Service was mediocre at best, when we first arrived a gentleman approached multiple times for drinks but I said wasn't ready. After finally ordering, if you wanted anything else it was a challenge to get anyone's attention. Server asked if everything was ok, I told him about my complaints with mixed grill, he said he will speak to his manager, he returned with a card machine and didn't mention anything to do with mixed grill, even if he said "sorry sir there's nothing we can do" but instead charged full amount, I'm only bothered at the favt he asked for feedback and made out he'd act upon it. If he didn't ask I wouldn't have complained. The vibe in las iguanas as opposed to a few years ago (other locations) is completely different, the menu is poor. Will not...
Read moreVery disappointed in my first visit. The food came out incredibly quick, a little too quick. I would guess less than 10 minutes after ordering. This is always a bit of a red flag for me. Freshly cooked food takes time.
I had chicken skewers. The plate did look lovely, but unfortunately that's where the joy ended.
The chicken was very poor quality, and was definitely pre cooked and re heated. It was like the pre packaged chicken you get from a supermarket. The chips were stale, and hollow, indications of being sat under a heat lamp too long, and the Mexican rice was very dry, like it had been sat for a while and then re heated in a microwave. Similar for the corn. We did get ice cream for desert. Which ironically took longer to come out than the 'hot' food. The server was friendly, but did talk very quietly so was difficult to hear him. Cocktails were well made, and nice. Unfortunately not enough to make up for less than average food.
I did notice however that every menu item had a vegetarian option, and there were some gluten free options too. Wide choice for different...
