The Great Wall is a consistently great and authentic Chinese food experience which has so much to offer on its menu at a reasonable price and generous portions.
I'm a big fan of the prawn toast, the crab and sweetcorn soup, the wontons, the spring rolls, the salt and pepper chicken wings and the Thai sweet chicken wings.
The beef, ginger and spring onion dish and the crispy beef dish is brilliant.
The Great Wall, in my opinion, does the best noodles (with beansprouts) in the City with a unique but hearty flavour, generous portions and very reasonable prices especially the free inclusions at certain price tiers.
The Great Wall manages to produce a massive variety of food with almost 200 menu items and it has managed to do it consistently, year on year, meal on meal and will always be a favourite of mine. No other Chinese food establishment has yet to compete in the same ball park, yes that includes Fortune Cookie around the corner which is far worse than it's Leeds namesake.
Would absolutely recommend The Great Wall in a heartbeat to any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCalled to ask whether they had the halal certificate and whether meat they served was stunned or not. Lady on the phone said 'dont know im not in the kitchen'. I very nicely asked whether someone in the kitchen may know the answer? She said 'you dont believe me if you dont believe don't order''. I said i believe you but need to know whether its stunned meat or not as halal has different types too. Lady kepy saying dont order if you dont believe and the conversation didn't go anywhere. I understand that she might know the different certifications but i as a customer have the right to ask for what halal certification they have if they claim to be halal. The lady was being very rude and un cooperative despite me trying to make her understand why i was asking what i was asking. Won't be ordering from here as my experience has shown there is no customer service.
Note: 5-7 other places I've called before making orders and asked the same have been very forth coming and truthful and not taken offence to me asking which...
Read moreThis is the WORST takeaway I have been to. Where do I start? I ordered chicken wings and chips for £6.90. The chips and wings were plain and left a bad salty taste in my mouth. All the onions and chillies were at the bottom of the box. Absolute joke honestly, the food was not fresh at all. I came back in to the shop to address the issue with the women at the front who was wearing kitchen gloves covered with black marks, absolutely disgusting. In response to my concern all I was met with was and I quote 'NOT MY PROBLEM' this was repeated 2/3 times, she could definitely do with enrolling on some ESOL classes. Absolutely no customer service, of course it's your problem, if someone has a concern then do something about it, relay it back to your chefs. I urge you to stay away from this place, wish I could give BIG FAT ZERO RATING. STAY AWAY AND DO NOT WAATE YOUR MONEY HERE. WING HIEST IS ROUND THE CORNER,...
