Edit 26/10/24; Went to floating points, and the sound was so much better, instantly more of a vibe going on, toilet situation seems improved as well. I'm still a little dubious whether two small catering stands is really enough, but just get in there early before there's a queue and you're fine 😉
Went to overmono 28/09: Catering: burger tent and pizzarova, both good, but only two small catering points, when I left around 1930 there were massive queues for both. Could probably use more for a 10-hour sold out event. Queues and security: big event, lots of people, big queue. Took us about half an hour to get in, but it was moving steadily. It is what it is. Security doing very thorough checks on the door; I mean it's what they're there for, kinda refreshing to see it taken seriously to be honest. Drinks; they cost what drinks at events cost, it is what it is. But agree with other reviews on the cup charge; if it's not refundable, it's not a "deposit". Sound and vibe; generally wierd and shit. Really noisy, too loud to hold a conversation, but no sound, nothing for your brain to hook into. I'd call it "all noise no sound" no depth no whack to the music, like someone just went out and got all mid speakers, and shit ones at that. Genuinely ruined several artists we were actively looking forward to. So bad we left before overmono came on as we were a mix of bored and angry, didn't want to hang about another hour hoping it would get better and then have a show we'd been looking forward to ruined. We've tickets for floating points later in the year but seriously considering selling them now. Toilets: didn't use them, looked like a fair lot of portaloos but very crowded area, urinals weirdly cramped together. Odd because it's not like there isn't a whole entire massive yard to sort...
Read moreNot really sure why people give this place a free pass. The sound here for Saturdays DnB event was horrendous. Spoke to countless people about it throughout the day and they all thought it was incredibly quiet and lacked any bass. I’ve been to urban day festivals, that are outside and have sound restrictions, that have had wayyy better sound. It is a nightclub/venue, the sound needs to be good and there is no excuse. (It was even a day event, so deffo no reason to have it so quiet, not having this excuse about neighbours- it’s in an industrial district and you literally cannot hear a thing outside.) The 2nd room is ridiculous, I felt embarrassed for some of the big acts playing at not even a separate room to the bar with no effort put it. But at least they had big speakers. A shame they were barely on. Motion and Lakota etc don’t draw big crowds because they have ‘3 different food vendors’ or ‘bespoke lighting’, it’s because they produce good sound out of their ample speakers. Was worried about it before but had read posts and replies to reviews that sound techs had worked it all out and it was sorted. It definitely wasn’t. Took all energy out of the room. Saw people leaving at 5/6 after AMC cause they couldn’t hear the set. I will be avoiding for all future events and will tell literally anyone that will listen to do the same (and I’m sure many others who attended will do the same until drastic actions are taken.) Complaining about sound in a venue is never something I’ve had to do before and no one should have to, it’s the main reason you are there. Rant over but day definitely ruined, over something so simple and yet necessary for...
Read moreExcited to say this venue did not disappoint, probably the best event that I have been to in Bristol.
Crowd was very friendly and the venue wasn't over capacity which I like to see.
The sound was 10/10, very clear, but definitely better at the front rather than behind the pillars.
Lights and visuals were spectacular, you'll be telling all your mates about these!
Food was quite expensive to be fair but they had a nice range of options which I can't complain about. It would be better if they provided a more economical nutritious option for food rather than chips for £5 which seemed to be what everyone went for.
Drinks were moderately priced for an event, believe it was £6.40 for a pint.
The outdoor area is lovely with outdoor covered seating and a lovely place to take a break and eat some food.
Security was very strict, you will most likely be patted down quite heavily and searched or even fully searched in the security tent as some of our friends were, but overall they were nice about the situation.
In terms of accessibility, I would imagine you would have a relatively fine time here if you were in a wheelchair, there was actually someone at the front of the crowd in one and they seemed to be managing ok. Everything should be accessible via a wheelchair and they even have viewing points at the back of each side of the stage which I can imagine would make it a lot easier for anyone with...
