Nice pub for a drink (but not a quiet one). But if you’re going for food amd want a quiet meal AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! We are a party of 5 adults 1 child. Who met for a couple of days as we all live in different places. So we wanted to catch up and also we meet our niece for first time 🥰To start off we ordered our food and I stupidly thought you can’t go wrong with ham, egg, chips and peas! How wrong was I?!¡! and then we waited an waited, an absolute age! (with a child getting hungrier and hungrier) amd the pub getting busier and busier amd louder and louder our food finally arrived and my partner found 2 hairs in different parts of his food 🤢🤮. Next ….. My meal was missing the peas, the chips were cold and old, the ham looked like the plate had been under hot lights (keeping warm) as it was curling round the edges, rubbery but dry and weirdly it was Warm! And the eggs were hard so I sent it back where it took another age to arrive and still missing the peas. So back it goes and five minutes later it’s back with a separate bowl of steaming microwaved hard peas 😡, with one hard egg (solid) and one egg with slimy white 🤢. I ate what I could, but smothered in hp brown sauce because it was horrible and the sauce made it more bearable but by the time mine came everyone had finished. So! I’m sat eating alone and feeling uncomfortable 😳. You couldn’t talk the decibels were so high. Awful experience it couldn’t and didn’t ruin the time with our loved ones but it made it difficult and a bad experience for us all, we couldn’t hear each other and outside was just same, very...
Read moreDecent value for money, although prices are noticeably rising and quality/quantity falling. Eg my friend had the ultimate burger and the burgers themselves were genuinely about half of the size they used to be. Nevertheless, the food was ok and I would give the place 3.5 stars factoring in value. Drinks a decent price and came within 5mins when using the app, too.
However, my reason for 1 star is one of the rudest displays I’ve ever seen by any member of staff anywhere. It was a Friday evening, so the place was packed. Me and my friends were stood up as there was no seating room left. A staff member wanted to deliver food to another table and tried to get past us. My friend didn’t see him, so rather than ask him to move politely, he shouted “LADS MOVE” in an incredibly aggressive manner, whilst gesturing at the same time in, again, a very aggressive manner. Bear in mind we are in our 30s, we are not “lads” and we weren’t drunk. We’re a decent group of people and treat others with respect. This is unacceptable behaviour and honestly the rudest display I’ve personally witnessed or experienced from a staff...
Read moreWe love wetherspoons, and were pleased to have found one near to where we were staying. We were however disappointed with the service and the food. My husband and myself were eating with our 4 teenage children. We ordered via the app, and even though we had ordered correctly, 3 of our sides were forgotten. My daughter was asked for ID as she ordered an alcoholic drink, which she had, then another member of staff (who was rude) came to ask her again, and also asked my two 15 year olds who were evidently not drinking. Another member of staff then came and asked them all for ID again, whilst we were eating. Having almost finished our first course, at 20.47 we were told we had to leave as children were not allowed in the bar after 21.00. This was not made clear on our arrival or on the website. The pub was very nice, clean and well maintained, and when I mentioned my grievance to a senior member of staff he was proactive and very...
