I canât believe they are allowed to serve such rubbish food. Fish was thinner than the batter, dark brown with black lines through it. God only knows what fish it was. Apparently according to the big person with glasses behind the counter said. and I quote when asked do you have Cod. (Scottish people donât eat Cod because of the worms) I should have walked away then. Unfortunately my fault I didnât. Mushy peas need to be renamed on the menu to. We used to be mushy but now watered down to a watery pea soup. Chips, well they were probely ok once. The jewel in the crown was their curry sauce. There again seeing as itâs powder and hot water, who could get that wrong. Looking forward to a family fish and chip supper, the last night of our fabulous holiday on the beautiful Isle of Bute. And...
Read moreWell weâre to start. Me and my wife Having now already eaten a take away from here are going to give a honest review on this.
I asked for Fish chips peas and gravey in a tray and the miserable guy said it has to be in cartons as it would spill all over. So I agreed. The tray was about 6â x 4â so had to snap the fish to fit it in. However there was loads of big trays but hey ho. Asked for a fork to eat the food with. You could only get super small wooden forks. One pea at a time. The fish wasnât to bad and the rest of it wasnât as bad as all the other reviews. Just badly presented and the guys in there looked dirty and just so miserable. I think the hygiene people should drop in and give this chippy some sort of rating. Then you could make your mind up before you order. My advise tread...
Read moreWas hoping to get some decent fish and chips while on one of the Scottish islands but it was disappointing. The fish was simply listed as 'fish'. I know my fish and I am pretty certain the fish used here was basa. That's an inexpensive mass-farmed river fish from southern Vietnam. Such a shame when you're so close to the sea and I'll bet there's cod, haddock or pollock out there or further up the coast. Batter was quite oily and overdone. Chips were OK, bit soggy. I liked the mushy peas. Staff not particularly friendly. In a bigger town with some competition a chippy of this level of quality would have gone out of...
