Just come back from Aldi at monk cross. You know how stressful shopping can be right now. I was really glad that everybody was respecting 2 m distancing and there was hand sanitizer when you enter the shop. I went shopping with 2 months old baby as couldn't leave him at home. When I unload all my shopping and lady start scanning I was told I cant pack m my shopping there i need to do it next to car. So with tuny baby wrap in sling needed to bend s lor and pack everything in trolley instead packing it in bags. Took much more time so it wasn't actually safer for me or the lady at the counter. Read moreI feel sorry for the lady that arrived in the checkout queues before me who chose Till 3. She was 3rd in that queue while I went into the Till 1 queue and was fourth in line. She had just unloaded her trolley onto the belt when the manager was called to help with a problem at that till. He was a little while coming, so they announced that Till 2 would open. Of course there was a stampede of customers from the queues behind her and myself leaving her frustrated. Why the British press keeps referring to Aldi and Lidl as 'the discounters' is beyond me - o.k., they are not selling too much in the way of highly advertised branded items, but other British owned chains are trying to discount too. I have no loyalty to any particular supermarket and use most, though Tesco is rarely used. My wife prefers Lidl to Aldi, but I tend to prefer Aldi.
