Been here many times before with no issues at all, but this particular visit frustrated me due to one member of staff who was chatting way too much while on shift. The middle-aged woman is short, with brown curly hair and brown eyes. She was chatting with the customer before me since I stepped in the shop. I had to wait nearly 5 minutes for her to eventually take his order and then she asks another member of staff (middle-aged man with brown hair and beard) to take my order. He puts my toastie in the oven and promptly and politely takes my order. A few minutes later my toastie is done and the woman is still chatting away with the customer before me while making his drinks. I'd say I had to wait a further 6-7 minutes for her to finish his 2 drinks before she even starts on mine (There was also another lady behind me also now who had ordered and waiting at this point too). The customer before me had ordered a mocha with full fat milk and used what was left of that to make my hazelnut latte when I didn't ask to have whole milk in mine. I politely ask her to remake it with semi-skimmed because I didn't ask for full fat milk. She starts remaking my latte and then 2 other ladies walk up to her and start chatting with her and distracting her, causing her to forget to add the hazelnut syrup I paid extra for. I waited probably about 12-15 minutes in total to finally get my order and sit down when it usually only takes no more than 5. I don't have a problem with staff being friendly with customers, (I work in hospitality myself) but don't let it affect the speed of service to other customers that are waiting and causing you to get orders wrong and using the wrong milk. If it were another customer with an allergy or intolerance and hadn't noticed what was put in their drink it could have been a risk to...
Read moreWhilst I always love coming to this costa while I’m shopping, there is one thing that ruin it for me every time. Tables are never clean; if I step into any other costa there is at least two staff members going round taking dirty cups and plates from the table and wiping it clean for the next person to come along and sit down at a clean and cleared table. As someone who also works in a sit down coffee shop I thought this was common practice to take away dirty mugs and plates when people leave the table and wipe it but apparently not here. I appreciate places get understaffed so sometimes certain things get left to put the needs of the customers first however, it does not look good if people walk in and near enough every table is either dirty, has dishes on or both. Otherwise I’d be happy to rate this Costa 5 stars, unfortunately for this specific...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend went to Costa at monks cross for a coffee, got served by a young lady behind the counter, she was rude, barely spoke to us and looked like she couldn't give a damn about her job or the people she was serving. Far more interested in a conversation with her co-worker about tattoos. Neither have them had a name badge, only another guy working did who we saw chatting to some customers. The ladies came across very unprofessional and wouldn't want to go in again based on this. My girlfriend prefers Starbucks so we also went in there to get her coffee which is next door. Staff were much friendlier and welcoming to customers and gave...
