I remember when Ozzell Bowl opened. Loved it then and love it still. Just what St Austell needs...... BUT, and it's a big but, what on earth has happened to the customer service over the years!!?!?
They are rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. We've booked before then called to change it to get there half an hour later and they'll say they can't accommodate it. So, we'll change our plans or rush our meal and get there on time, only to find it's half empty. There was plenty of time for us to have our games earlier in time for closing, but their main focus is shutting those doors and getting home as quickly as they can. You'll be there, having a good night and they'll literally start hoovering around you!!!!
Tonight my son and I were going to the cinema, we were a bit early so we thought 'we'll have a game of pool first, and a few drinks', went into Ozzell Bowl, nice greeting and when my son said we'd come to play pool, we were told quite bluntly that it was 'for the people who are bowling only, all of the facilities are', so we turned and left.
What kind of business model is this!? Making people feel unwelcome, rushing them out the door, hoovering around people, and tonight, there was hardly anyone there!!! Both pool tables EMPTY. If you can afford to turn away business, few games of pool, few drinks, you must be raking it in with next to no people. Who turns away business!!!! If the pool tables were busy or it was heaving I would get it, but it was not busy and both pool tables empty. No idea what's going on with this place. Do the guys managing it own it? Does the owner know they couldn't give a monkeys and make people feel like they're unwelcome and when you are there can't rush you out the door quick enough!!?!? Really!!???
Such a shame. It's an amazing venue. It should be buzzing. Maybe it's the attitude that's putting people off. I do not get your business model...
Read moreVisited again today but this time was totally different my partner was made to feel uncomfortable by who i think my be the manager right grumpy c#&# (did not have any problems when the youg girl and lad was on last week) we paid once again to use the soft play area (very small and over priced) was told the yougen had to be out for six thats fine the problem was after this grump walk off from tills there was no one to let my lad out it was locked and so he panicked, my partner then had to pull him out using the gap above the locked door if you go youll see what i mean, i then asks the bloke why it was so expensive he said its cheeper to bowl as well but then said and i quote "this isn't a kids place". well its got a soft play area you jobs worth think about it, the bar has two pulls one larger one cider not really a bar tbf and its quite expensive as is the food, this time the arcade machines were switched off thats the hole reason we had gone there because my lad loves the machines!!
The toilets are a state and qutie frankly the hole place need an update i would not of been writing this review if we would of been spoken to properly and with respect shame really now we are locals definitely lost my family's custom now.
IF ITS NOT KIDS PLACE THEN PUT THE SIGN ON THE DOOR AND FOR HELLS SAKE PUT YOUR PRICES UP SO PEOPLE CAN SEE BECAUSE LAST WEEK WHEN WE DID BOWL IT WAS DIFFICULT TO FIND WITHOUT ASKING OOH AND GET...
Read moreWould not even give one star. The staff were beyond horrible. Firstly shouting at a bunch of children who were celebrating a birthday party making the whole experience awkward. A couple of the children were crying. Then proceeds to call another patron a t**t as he was standing outside in the doorway, having a vape. The vapours must have blown in the doorway. As soon as he realised he moved but everyone around was shocked and disgusted by the way he was reprimanded. There was no need for that language especially when this is supposed to be a family friendly venue. The same gentleman then decides to repeat the word to another worker loudly enough for others to hear. As well as this £5.20 for two very flat cokes with no ice, not even filled to the top. I spent nearly £50 for the night and am very disgusted with how everyone was treated. It is very clear why st austell is a ghost town Would not recommend. I would advise against anyone going...
