Ponteland leisure centres pool offer a 6 lane pool, learners pool and splash zone or you can also sneak off to the spa for some you time. Different size lockers in the changing area - using your wristband/card to lock it - no worry for change. There is a pool viewing area - ideal for children’s classes they offer. Hooks across from the shower area to put yours and your little ones towels to one side so you can just grab them on the way back from the showers. You get one hour in the pool and will have coloured wrist band on. I would suggest to book online to save disappointment, they also have an app you can download to book anytime. They sell many products if you leave anything behind such as bather, towl, goggles, arm bands etc. They also have a softplay and clip n climb area. Aswell as an on-site cafe. #NorthEastFamilyDaysOut #SwimmingPool #SplashZone #northeasttiktokers #swimmingpool

A very well run leisure centre. Well maintained gym, with plenty of modern equipment. They also have a very nice café on site too!

SUB OPTIMAL AND GOING DOWNHILL!

Since the take over the facilities have taken a steep decline. Understaffed and cleanliness is very noticeable.

Changing rooms

Let’s start with the cleanliness of the male changing and area surrounding the changing facilities. The shower blocks at 8:30am are thick with dirt and gunk, this is clearly from the previous day as it’s not new dirt or bodily dirt. The toilets especially the seats are covered in urine and look yellow/orange and grubby on the underside. Walk out on the way to the sauna and steam room and you find grubby unclean tiles.

Health suit There is always something not working. Today it was the jacuzzi and the cold water shower, the week before it was the loungers and the week before it was the sauna on the left that took weeks to fix and it still has a sign saying it had a faulty door. You can see through the cracks of the wood slates the repulsive cleanliness and human fat gathered under the sauna. The steam rooms smells like old BO with no aroma of scented oils that it should have.

Food The kids food is an absolute joke! Terrible quality at a premium price. 2 fish fingers CREMATED with a minuscule amount of “fish” inside them follow by a tiny portion of chips. This has been the case of several occasions ( 2 kids parties and 2 personal purchases) The cafe at the soft play is never open! We need to take our kids up the stairs to the bar area to order then walk all the way back down with food. The toilets at the soft play are DISGUSTING! For the past few weeks one has been out of order as well.

The staff are this places only saving grace, they are always very polite and happy to help.

Overall the leisure centre is...

I unfortunately will not be renewing my membership. I find the membership very pricey for what you get. It is inconvenient to have to book in for fitness classes, swimming and even to use the gym. I have only been able to attend a handful of classes in 6 months because they are always fully booked two weeks in advance. The classes I have attended are also very crowded. I think this leisure centre could afford to hold more classes to accommodate everyone considering the price they are charging. It is also very difficult to enjoy a peaceful swim. The pool is used very often by large numbers of children from Ponteland School. These classes run late into the evening. Children are still running around at 7.30pm. Regularly, only one lane is left open for swimmers whilst the rest of the pool is a free for all: children and families jumping in or running around the pool splashing people who are squashed into one lane trying to swim. Swimming times and lanes should be spread equally between families, children and adults and health and safety should be monitored more closely. Most staff on reception and around the pool are rude and unhelpful when you raise issues with them. It is a shame as the facilities themselves are of a...

Ponteland Leisure centre is lovely modern building, always clean. Soft play is easily booked on the Northumberland active app, reasonably priced, good size for children aged 10 and under. There is a small cafe next to the soft play for tea and coffee and food. Also toilets next to soft play. It is limited numbers at one time so never seems too busy and able to get a table easily enough. There is also a clip and climb next to the soft play but it is not always open.

The swimming pool is small there is two pools, a lane swimming pool, and a splash area/small pool. The changing rooms are always clean and able to get a locker. The smaller pool is warm and all one level that is good for small children (my 7 year old can stand all over in it) there is also a small play piece with a slide and fountains/splash area. This is good for small children.

There is also a library on site with seating and another small cafe next to it.

I like how all the amenities are in one building so can do more than one and make a day out of it. There is also a park outside so on a nice day can include this in your day.

There is a gym there however I have not used this.

Can always get a parking space with no...
