I have been in and out of this place a few times having originally joined the place back in November 2024. The place used to offer the right mix of classes back then, although I have gathered from some past employees that the place used to be even better. When I joined in November 2024 there used to be separate Hatha, Vinyasa, Pilates, Barre and Pi-Yo alongside Yin, Yin and Yang plus the mixed up Dynamic Flow/Yoga Classes. In the last 6 months I have had to go elsewhere, partly to recover from being thrown in at the deep end with far too intense Dynamic Yoga classes without doing the sequential build up of all types of Yoga before arriving at Dynamic or Power Yoga. Not to mention needing to go elsewhere to do proper core strengthening and Pilates. Now there is only 1 -3 classes a week I do here with the odd workshop if it is good. If you are seeking a beginners route into Yoga, I would recommend going elsewhere and only consider this place for the odd Dynamic class once your practice is established and it fits in to expand your practice. On the flip side though, if you are looking for a safe, holistic welcoming environment to develop friendships alongside your practice. Then go elsewhere, the previous management and current management (The Lipscombes) are some of the most horrible people I have come across in the yoga world within Essex. There are a number of employees as well who never account for their...
Read moreThe best yoga centre in the area with different types of classes to suit different needs. Most importantly the centre is run by people who embody the ancient teachings of yoga, such as the ethical codes of conduct in the Yoga sutras (i.e. the yamas and niyamas). Karma yogis help run the centre, Bhakti yoga is practiced (e.g. kirtan, Pujas) and the centre is full of interesting books relating to Jnana yoga too, ensuring all the different paths of yoga are covered. You don’t need to practice a single posture/asana to be a yogi. It is a way of life and way of thinking positively, and dealing with life with evenness of mind. TYF spread a truly authentic message of yoga and should be commended for all the hard work they put in. It is a vital service for the community and Southend would be at a huge loss if it wasn’t in existence. I was so inspired by their teachings I’m now in India studying yoga at a Sivananda ashram. I very much look forward to visiting the centre...
Read moreI've had a few classes where I can do everything and more. I've had a few classes where I can only do half. There's no judgment from TYF teacher, and nothing but encouragement and clear guidance - a consistent message of "work within your own means". Special mentions to: Sam M - her classes are very opening, easier physically but strength training of the mind; Claire D - physically more demanding with a keen emphasis on control and stamina; Lauren B - loves to push a challenge and seamless flow; Josh L - breathwork is key in the position, if you can't control it, that position needs adjusting.
Experienced comfortable environment with a willingness to teach the application rather than just "bend and stretch".
Keep up the...
