The giant reclining ? is sited on the pavement area outside Suffolk New College. It's listed by The Ipswich Society as a public work of art to make a point to see if visiting Ipswich. However, it's not allotted it's own page on here, (as many other town works of art (even 'Digby the Octopus') are), so I'm posting the photos of it for the college building that it serves to represent. The intended significance of the big ? by the sculptors, Langlands & Bell, was to encourage those who behold it, to ask questions about everything. Due to the use of contrasting stone, one side appears black (Uruguayan granite), the other side white (Portuguese marble). It's a simple but effective design & maybe also a classic example of less equalling more? Ironically & unintentionally, the reclining ? is also the symbol for Alpha Course churches. Something that the local Ipswich group have also noticed & are using photos of the artwork to illustrate their publicity materials...

Final update: Please try and keep your families, friends & anyone you care about, as far away from this College as possible. Especially if you know of any pupils who happen to suffer from any visible or hidden LD, then at least give them a heads up. A vulnerable young student was severely harassed and discriminated against, at the hands of the college security guards. When complained, parents were lied to their faces, then the College consistently used self favouring, misleading and at times, provably false statements and denied any responsibility, it has been a non stop nightmare. This College tried their best to destroy a young persons life, but were eventually defeated by the student’s courage, and sheer commitment of not to be held back anymore, by these soulless lying bullies. On paper, the College senior management made it all look very much in their favour, and never accepted any accountability. Local Tory MP Tom Hunt was unfortunately found to be too friendly with the college, he didn’t bother looking in to the matter further once the College repeated the same lies that they used as their cover story to begin with. Shame on everyone involved in this incident from the college. It is a broken system and unless serious action is taken, I fear that there will unfortunately be more such incidents and someone might (God forbid) end up getting hurt or possibly make it to mainstream news before the underlying issues of discrimination is addressed. The college won’t even acknowledge their wrong doing, let alone take any steps to address it. The poor student’s entire family have been emotionally and mentally traumatised by this experience. Only demand was a sincere apology and reassurance that it would not happen to another pupil again. Neither were provided. I wish the College are held to account soon. Otherwise, what goes around comes around, hopefully they will get judged for their misdeeds To the coward bullies in the security team, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYONE’s, especially STUDENT’s SAFETY WHILST THEY ARE ON COLLEGE GROUNDS. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO HARASS THEM. This is Ipswich, NOT Tijuana. SHAME ON YOU CRIMINALS.

Original review: Absolute nightmare of a College They are not there to help anyone. Only there to destroy lives and then deny any responsibility through blatant lies. Cannot share details until the matter is legally concluded, but if you care about your children, then don’t send them to this college.

Update Thank you for your response. Your executive team have already checked their own homework and given themselves all clear, relying on the provably false statements / lies from the same person who was involved in the discrimination and harassment of a vulnerable young person . They conveniently brushed all the concerns and main issues under the carpet, it is sickening to see this is allowed to happen, with no consequences for those responsible. Shameful to see the flourishing culture of lies, moral corruption & refusal to take responsibility flowing all the way down to our institutions, from the very...

I spent a total of 5 years here a few years ago. (2 of which were PAVE courses whilst 15-16)

I started on a pave course for motorcycle repair. This course was a disaster. We had a tutor called Dave Vaughan for the first year and he left without any notice and all of our work went missing when he did. We then had to do two years of work in a year. The second tutor (forgot his name) was fantastic.

I then did 2 years (lvl2 and lvl3) of vehicle paint and body repair. This course was amazing (without this course my review would be one star) the tutors Richard and Carl and technician Jack were really involved and really helpful. Carl being a welder before paint actually inspired the direction I took after I left here to look for apprenticeships.

After the paint courses I did an extended diploma in vehicle mechanics. The actual course was fine and the head tutor was very good but unfortunately the other tutors and the way the course was managed let that down massively and is what led me to drop after my first year. One tutor was meant to lead us through a health and safety unit in our first term. He instead spent 2 terms doing slideshows about motorsport then handed his notice in. Near the end of the first year a new tutor had apparently managed to secure us a trip at the end of the year but apparently management moved the trip to a group in another course to stop them from failing.

All in all, had it not been for the paint and body course then this would be a one star review. West Suffolk College was a much...

I spent two years at Suffolk New College on the Music Technology Course. This course is thorough and well designed, benefiting both those who are just getting started as well as those who already have some experience with Music Technology. Additionally the course approaches the subject from different angles, from live engineering to music production, providing the opportunity for students to shape the course to their individual interests.

The course gave me the necessary skills and experience to apply for University. I chose to go to Goldsmiths where I am currently studying and loving Music Computing.

By the end of the two years, students gain sufficient knowledge of the most up to date industry standard software and techniques. Whilst I picked the route of further education, these skills will also give a great head start in the music industry for those wanting to jump straight into their exciting career.

The tutors (such as Craig Shimmon) are experienced professionals who are experts in their field. As well as passionately sharing their vast knowledge, they also wholeheartedly care about each and every student. They will put 110% into your education no matter if you're struggling with the material or soaring ahead.

I cannot recommend this course enough. It is hands down the best education in Music Technology that you can get at this level. I made many wonderful and talented friends during my time at Suffolk New College and I...
