I recently dined at Mahzen in Ipswich and had an overall delightful experience.

Positive Aspects:

A Delight for Meat Lovers: The food is a haven for meat lovers. The menu boasts a variety of delectable options that are sure to satisfy even the most discerning palates.

Exceptional Service: The service provided by the attentive staff, particularly the lady whose name was Deymante (all staff amazing), was commendable. Their friendly prompt assistance added to the overall positive dining experience.

Convenient Parking: One notable convenience is the ample parking space located just opposite the restaurant. This makes it hassle-free for patrons to find parking, a rare gem in the dining scene.

Inviting Atmosphere: The restaurant's ambiance is warm and welcoming, creating a pleasant environment for diners. The bright saloon adds a refreshing touch to the overall atmosphere.

Areas for Improvement:

Pricier Dining Experience: While the dining experience at Mahzen is undeniably enjoyable, it leans toward the higher end in terms of cost. However, the quality of the food and service does make it worth the expense.

Booking in Advance Advisable: I observed that nearly all tables were booked, highlighting the restaurant's popularity. To avoid disappointment, I recommend making a reservation in advance, especially during peak hours.

In conclusion, Mahzen offers a delightful journey, particularly for those who appreciate quality meat dishes. Despite being a bit on the expensive side, the overall experience, from the tasty cuisine to the attentive service, justifies the cost. Don't forget to secure your table in advance to make the most of...

My colleagues, friends and I always love to go to this restaurant to celebrate birthdays and special occassion. They have good food, however we will not come back again for the CUSTOMER SERVICE that we had.

It was my leaving do. I reserved a table and made a deposit for 12 people (£10/person), unfortunately 8 people only arrived as people were sick (we are all nurses from the hospital).

Even though we consumed food that was good for 12 people and the restaurant was not as full on that night, they charged us £40 for the people who did not come in and said that it was for the reservation.

My colleagues spoke to the manager, who was resistant and argumentative, saying that the deposit cannot be refunded or used for people who did not attend. Hence, they will be keeping it. It was quite a long discussion until one of my senior colleagues spoke to him, and gave back our deposit.

The waitresses were rude and not understanding either, after the discussion happened they did not stop badgering me about the deposit. One waitress apologised to her friend’s friend, who is one of my colleagues, however she did not stop talking and staring until I left.

I had a wonderful and memorable dinner with my colleagues, however it ended up badly on how we got treated on this restaurant when a...

Table booked for 6pm we arrived a few minutes early, and had to wait for the table to be ready. We waited 15mins to place a drinks order and a further 15-20mins to place food (they were not busy). We asked the waiter why gluten free options were only listed against the starters. Apparently, i can have anything on the menu its because the menu has bulgar wheat rice but they can exchange that for chips which makes it gluten free. I ordered my meal only to receive it with bread at the bottom so I checked woth waitress that it was wheatfree bread to be told no and she walked off. I explained to another waitress its not good as this will make me ill so they took it away and cooked me something else. They blamed me for what I ordered even thought I informed the waitress it needs to be gluten free, not sure what else I could do. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU SUFFER A FOOD ALLERGY. Some staff do not understand. Most places have wheatfree products as substitutes or a separate GF menu. They never apologised therefore, thats says they do not understand the severity of the matter. By the time my next meal arrived my party had all finished and we ran over the 2hour table slot which could have all been avoided if the waitress had...

Quite simply, a great restaurant. Having not made a booking and seeking as it was early, we thought we would try our luck and they managed to fit us in but advised the table had to be back for another booking in an hour and a half, not a problem for us as we just wanted some food, sharpish! We ordered 6 cold meze and asked the chef to choose, what an excellent introduction. I especially liked the spicy one and also the carrot slaw type thing. The flat bread was to die for as well, we went through 3 bowls for 3 of us! For mains we had the mahzen platter for 4 to split between the 3 of us. The quality of the food was excellent. It had chops, chicken/lamb shish, chicken/lamb kofte, chicken wings and other delights all on a bed of bulga wheat served along side a plate of salad and with a couple of dips. The meat was cooked to perfection and all the accompanying dishes were spot on. Had a very nice bottle of turkish wine (kayra kalecik karasi red), and highly recommended of you like pinot noir or that sort of thing. All in all, I will be back...!

We had a lovely meal here. We had to book here as a last minute change of plans for my partners birthday. And it didn't dissapoint. He had the T-Bone steak, which was as delicious as it looked, and quite frankly at £35 was a bargain. They put us at a table which was right next to the grill. Which as first we both thought was awkward because it didn't leave much space either side, but we decided to give it a chance before saying something. And we soon felt like we had the best seat in the house as we got to watch them make everything, including the steak. We have been to a fair few steak places l, mostly around London, but this steak was cooked to perfection. I had the more conventional Turkish dish beyti and it was also yummy.

For eating in, I would have given more stars as the food is really nice and waiting staff are very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately very disappointed with the new takeaway/delivery service. Complete rip off for the shared meze, meant for 2 people, only one of each thing per person (4 choices) and a tiny portion of mushrooms for £19. Is it really acceptable to charge that much for what we received in the photo? Definitely won't be ordering again. Was glad we ordered extra bread, it was the only thing that filled us up! I think a £32 order is a bit ridiculous on 2 people when bread is the saving grace to fill you up.
