Whilst entering this fish and chips shop today, we were greeted by very rude customer service, followed by being told off by not mentioning the 'specials offer' immediately when entering, as the signage was not clear as another customer struggled with the same problem about the offer. One of the ladies decided to comment on the previous customer describing how they want to 'slap him with one of the fish' once he'd left, as he was rude. We asked for salt on our chips, expecting a 'usual' amount of salt and not what tasted like 3 buckets of salt resulting in no flavour of the fish and chips as the salt just totally ruined it. Overall, I would not recommend to anyone there are other services that would be much more appreciated of your hard earned money. I'd heard this place was awful, but The Cove was closed, so I had no choice.

I ordered and when the food came I was told I wasn't allowed to put my own salt and vinegar on because of Covid, even though there are no plastic guards around the counter, masks or sanitiser. The staff told me they'd be fired immediately if the manager found out a customer had put their own salt and vinegar on. It was totally bizarre and unreasonable.

The fish was OK, but the chips were awful, I didn't even eat them. Soggy, anaemic, and undercooked. The portions are also very poor compared to The Cove and other chippies in the area.

Just came to Kirby’s for lunch today to try it. Not had fish and chips in a while so we were excited to try. Don’t get me wrong the lady serving us was lovely , but there was only us in there and we asked for the lunchtime deal, 2 fish and chips, with 2 curry sauce. She asked if we wanted chip shop curry or Chinese and also said chip shop is the best. So we asked for that. We also asked for 2 bread cakes, we got home and she gave us 2 Chinese curry sauces and no bread cakes even though we paid for it! Seems a little unprofessional seen as though we were the only ones there and she was stood waiting for the fish to be ready....
