Visited tonight for the first time. Wheelchair accessible entrance with a manual door. A server greeted us quickly and saw us to a table. We were served drinks within five minutes and asked if we’d like to order within another five. Our starters arrived quickly, and were delicious. Mains arrived within five to ten minutes of our plates been cleared and again, the food was rich, freshly prepared and tasted beautiful. Each server we encountered was friendly and happy to help. The lighting was perfect, not too bright or dim. Music was playing at a quiet level so it was still easy to talk and the temperature was comfortable (the waitress happily turned on a radiator when I said I may get cold). The disabled toilet was clearly signposted and easy to find. It was clean, with left hand transfer and the mirror at an accessible height. The red cord was hanging freely. There was plenty of space between tables, with hand sanitiser available on the bar. A really positive experience on all fronts and I’ll definitely be visiting again and recommending to everyone who’ll listen 😊 I’ll also be adding accessibility details to the Sociability app for...
Read moreBitterly disappointed by our visit to the Brownlee Arms and wont be returning ever. Went on a Sunday for a Birthday and the food was very poor indeed. The pate for the starter was sad, stale and miserable and dark grey in colour. It looked and smelled like it was weeks old. Only a tiny bit of pinkness from its prime era could be found when cutting deep into it. Needless to say, myself and my partner didnt eat any of it and when speaking with the manager, we were over the moon to hear that this uneaten food would be removed from the bill (no other discount given.) Onto the main, the Sunday lunch was a slight improvement, not overly warm, dry turkey, tough beef, frozen veg, no taste and all just a bit plain really. What started out to be a nice family meal was a big disappointment and we wish we had gone elsewhere. This used to be a decent place but has gone downhill massively, smells of stale dog and cant compete with other places in a competitive market. It spoke volumes when a staff member was seen walking in today with a new microwave as i think thats their main way of cooking...
Read moreWe were booked in for a Sunday dinner & all of this was fine we were seated in time & the service was quick. The meals arrived in good time. I ordered beef[pink) my partner the turkey the presentation was wonderful. The downfall was both of our burnt & rubbery yorkshire puddings & my not pink but overdone & tuff beef. Deserts I ordered treacle tart but opted for normal custard as salted caramel custard seemed like another similar flavour to the treacle? My partner not keen on most of the deserts opted for ice cream. I should have gone for the ice cream! Initially if I was aware the treacle tart was black treacle I would not have ordered it as I am not a lover of this at all secondly the custard I thought had been mixed up with the tapioca this I requested they change I received another batch of slightly less lumpy custard. Should I have complained about everything at the time some people say yes but I think the same way as I expect my work to be found which is done to the best of my abilities, yes we all make mistakes & ours was Sunday lunch at...
