I came last night for an early birthday meal which my partner had booked.
I'm a firm believer in first impressions and when you are left waiting by the door for 5 minutes to be seated it doesn't set you off in good stead. Everyone seemed to be fumbling about and they didnt seem to know where they were sitting their customers. We then had to wait 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken and at the time of ordering drinks I asked if we could order food to save having to wait to order this but we were told that our food order would be taken separately. While waiting for someone to come back to take our food order me and my partner actually debated leaving and discussed between that this service just wasn't acceptable. We had seen other people leave before being served drinks who also must have felt the customer service was diabolical too. Just as my partner was abouts to go to the restaurant next door to see if a table was available our order was taken.
Nobody approached our table to ask if we wanted further drinks and anything we needed we had to ask for.
The girls who were serving looked rushed off their feet which may explain the poor customer service. The lady who appeared to be management looked to be giving the girls no direction. This lady gave off a 'moody' vibe, didn't give customers eye contact, she never asked how our food was and when the food arrived it was almost like this was thrown on the table. She just didn't look happy at all. I found myself just watching what was going on around me the whole evening in complete shock at how this place functions. I witnessed one of the young girls servicing ask the lady in charge where to sit a certain set of customers and she shrugged her shoulders and completey ignored her. I felt really sorry for the two young girls working.
A couple opposite us advised they waited an hour and half for their food.
When our food did arrive it was nice and it is a shame the customer service was so diabolical that we won't return. There appears to be a few reviews with a similar vibe and I would really urge the owners to take these on-board as it's...
Read moreWent for Sunday lunch today with the family, great work guys! When I saw the authentic Mexican hot sauce on the table I had a feeling we were in for a treat. We had the jackfruit burrito which was lovely. Well stuffed, beautifully seasoned and careful balance of ingredients. Had the churros for pud, could've eaten those all day if I'd had the chance. Smashing chili chocolate sauce alongside too, perfect with the sweetness of the pastry. Good espresso!
My two year old daughter already has a taste for Mexican food at home so she was very happy to tuck into black beans, salsa and tortilla chips. My parents can be trickier to please when we eat out sometimes but they went away very satisfied :D
It seemed the restaurant was only running as a two man show but you really pulled it out of the bag. Quiet when we arrived but then a large birthday party arrived, couples arrived, families arrived, but still the food kept arriving in a timely fashion. Friendly and attentive staff, clearly passionate about the food and venue and keen to bring a great Mexican eating experience to Farsley with this new venture.
Great to see plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. I'll certainly be back again because I want to try everything else. Great having you 150 yards from my door!
Had a look at the photos on the wall and it seems Sabroso began as a street food type vendor so it's heart warming to see you now have a brick and mortar eatery too.
Wishing you all the best, see you...
Read moreVisited this place about a week ago and for me, it has potential to be a really great restaurant but it needs to improve in a couple of areas.
The service is really good, the young girl who served us was warm welcoming and really informative.
The exterior of the restaurant has been really well designed And branded and really stands out on the high street.
The food was a bit mixed, the tacos were pretty good but would of benefitted from some fresh herbs, the etole (corn on the cob) was poor, the corn chowder was pretty good and the Jackfruit was ok to.
I just felt that Mexican food should be really fresh, herby and zingy and a lot of the dishes were smothered in guacamole and packet grated cheese and there wasn’t a herb in sight.
The interior of the restaurant has been well finished and put together but you could be anywhere and it felt like if you took the paper Mexican token items off the wall and the paper piñata of the bar and swapped it with some Italian paraphernalia this place could in about half an hour be an Italian restaurant. It just felt a bit anaemic.
I really want this place to do well because it’s a bit different and a great addition to the high street and area. For me the food needs more thought and for a nominal amount effort and expense could be greatly improved. The interior also needs finishing off and seems a bit lacking.
To finish on a positive they have a great local supply...
