Unfortunately it's just ok. I attended a gathering of friends for a birthday celebration. It was a large party. The waitress was very attentive, and kept up with all orders from the large table. Service was quick .
The overall aesthetic was nice , the toilets were clean, the restaurant had a large cloakroom .
Among us, garlic bread, halloumi, falafel, and garlic mushrooms were ordered. The garlic breads were huge and could have been shared between 3 it's worth noting. I had falafel, it was ok a little dry not enough salad.
For mains were various pizzas, pasta dishes, risotto, chicken in sauce. Unfortunately the pizzas were over cooked and dry The rest of the portion sizes were ok could have been a little bigger. I had linguini king prawns, it was packed with huge tasty prawns, but the portion was a little lost in the huge bowl, a little more pasta or a small piece of bread would have made a difference. A few desserts were ordered these were not so good the cheesecake, tiramisu, and sticky toffee pudding were all not freshly made.
The restaurant was busy it was a Wednesday evening, so maybe this is why the food was just not quite on par. There were people collecting take-aways too.
The menu was good not too much and not too little choice, with vegetarian options. The waitress asked about allergies so I'm sure the kitchen would adapt for any dietary needs.
The restaurant is on ground level so could accommodate wheelchairs and pushchairs but the tables and pathways are narrow so It may require some furniture shuffling .
They did have some highchairs available and a good children's menu, so would suit younger families.
Would I return? Well the pizzas were really disappointing so I wouldn't order those or a dessert as they were shop bought but yes I would return.
Price wise , there were twelve of us, starters were shared or had individually, all had mains, 4 desserts, 3 cocktails, and various drinks. We split the bill and it came to £30 a head leaving a good tip. So yes it's a...
Read moreTotally unacceptable conduct from the Chef.
My elderly mother didn't eat her lasagne because it was burnt and she made the waiter aware but didn't want another. At first I thought: "Not the end of the world"; the rest of the food was honestly pretty good. We continued our meal quite happily.
However, after we had finished paying for the meal (including the burnt lasagne and a tip) the chef suddenly decided it was time to come and have an argument with my mother about it.
He began by informing her that she had eaten it wrong, then he explained that some of it was supposed to be burnt, and finally he explained that he had already sold 10 from the same batch (the implication being that nobody else had complained). The lack of sincerity probably hit its peak when he said "I'm not here to argue with you, but..." - by this point my mother had her head in her hands from embarrassment and I had just finished tipping the waiter.
To conclude his flagrantly backhanded apology the chef then offered her a shot of lemoncello on the house. It's an interesting mental gymnastics that he must have done. As though he could verbally berate an elderly woman but somehow be absolved by the offer of a cheap shot.
I was honestly pretty relaxed about the whole thing until the chef decided he needed a confrontation. Seeing it handled so outrageously, I am compelled to break my timid exterior to leave this negative review.
Honestly, there are plenty of other lovely restaurants in Horsforth that you could visit (Mediterranean too) without running the risk of being abused by somebody that is only brave enough to speak up after he's got your money.

Read moreCelebrated my mums birthday here a few weeks ago and had a generally lovely evening but unfortunately spoiled by one of the staff. The food was all very tasty - in particular the starters (we had some prawns, meatballs and calamari). However for the main course my brother ordered a casserole dish which was unfortunately a little salty and therefore he didn’t eat much of it. My parents have owned and run a successful family restaurant themselves for 30 years and suggested that the kitchen would appreciate feedback so that they could make improvements. When the waitresses came over to clear the plates, I thanked them for the food which had all been delicious and I mentioned that the casserole however had been slightly salty. We continued to chat amongst ourselves and unfortunately at this point the young lady who appeared to be the manageress came barging over to our table and she quite aggressively said to me “I heard that you said that the casserole was salty, I just wanted to let you know that we do not add any salt to our food and also we have tasted it and it’s fine”. She was quite confrontational in her manner and we were all a bit taken aback. Unfortunately this left me very annoyed. We had had a really pleasant evening up to this point, the service had been great, the food had been great and this reaction to a bit of feedback was completely unnecessary. I was not trying to get any freebies out of them and on the contrary we left a large tip due to the lovely service we had received from the other staff. All in all, lovely food, lovely staff but beware - your opinion on the food will be likely unwelcome and considered...
