Iāve never met a bunch of incompetent people quite like it, buckle in for this one. We purchased drinks and popcorn before our movie with good time to get seated before it started. We went to fill our drinks that we had just purchased on the refill machine for it to say that we had no refills left, obviously the machine being out of order (something i understand is out of control, but how the situation was dealt with is the issue). There was several staff around, all just chatting and doing nothing in particular. I shouted to a gentleman to say the machine was out of order, he sighed and said someone would be over to fix it. A lady came over and started pressing the screen a few times, even though the machine was clearly in a reset, and then turned and said āoh itās unreliableā and just stared at the machine. It was clearly not working and instead of suggesting anything, we were faced with silence. Itās now past the time our screening started, so my partner asked the lady if we could refund the almost Ā£6 ārefillā drinks we had purchased and purchase some bottled drinks instead. The woman said they donāt sell bottled soft drinks. I went to a till, again where staff were stood talking, to refund the drinks as the machine wasnāt working to be rudely spoken to and told I wasnāt given a receipt so had to go to the till I paid at. I went to the till I paid at to be told the till was broken and the staff member had to dig through the waste bin to find a receipt so I could get a refund. Whilst we waited for the poor girl to go elbow deep in rubbish, my partner noticed a fridge full of bottled soft drinks. You canāt make it up. Now 15 minutes after the showing started, Iām angry and still waiting for a refund and repurchase of the bottles of soft drink that they apparently didnāt sell. All whilst this is happening, the lady that was called over to āfixā the machine is still staring at it as if it will magically repair. Everyone I dealt with in the situation was incredibly rude which, on top of everything else, was just the cherry on top of the cake. That being said, seeing wicked was fantastic, even if someone was sat in our seats when we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI rarely write reviews, but my experience at this cinema in kirkstall was extremely disappointing enough that I feel it needs to be shared. The main issue was with a staff member named Nabila, whose behavior and attitude fell far short of what I would expect from someone working in customer service.
From the very beginning of the interaction, Nabila came across as dismissive and uninterested. When I approached her with a simple question about tickets and seat availability, she responded in a rushed and unfriendly manner, almost as though I was inconveniencing her. Instead of taking the time to explain clearly, she gave vague answers and acted impatient when I asked for clarification.
At the concession counter, the same lack of professionalism continued. She seemed disorganized, got part of my order wrong, and when I pointed it out politely, she showed visible irritation rather than apologizing or correcting the mistake in a courteous way. Customer service requires patience and professionalism, but unfortunately, both were missing in this interaction.
What made the situation worse was her overall attitude. There was no effort to make customers feel welcome, no smile, and no sense of basic courtesy. It felt like she simply didnāt care about her job or the customers she was serving. For a business built on hospitality and entertainment, this type of service is unacceptable.
The cinema itself has potential, but staff like Nabila damage the overall customer experience. Poor service and a lack of professionalism leave a lasting impression, and it reflects badly not only on her as an employee but also on the cinema as a whole. Management should address this seriously, provide proper training, and ensure that staff understand the importance of respectful and professional customer service. Until then, I cannot recommend this cinema, as the service simply does not meet the standards that paying customers deserve.
I hope management review and assess her work progress as it is no place for obnoxious...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlways have a great experience at the Vue cinema in Kirkstall. Both myself and my family / friends have been coming to Cardigan Fields for years to visit Vue and the places around it. The concessions are similarly priced to most cinemas (namely a bit costly) but you have the choice of popcorn, drinks, ice cream and other quick snacks for the movie.
They have both normal 2D screen showings as well as 3D screenings and IMAX screenings. This is not as big as your massive IMAX experience that you can have at say Manchester or Bradford Film Museum but it is still a very big digital 3D IMAX and you have the choice of Standard, VIP or Recliners in there. I have added pictures of the screen, recliners and seating from my recent visit to watch Star Wars Episode VIII (13th/14th December) . In the standard screens you have standard or VIP Leather seating but I'd recommend the recliners for the best experience if your film is shown in screen 1.
The only reason I knock off 1 Star is because there always appears to be a problem with the mens bathrooms be it them being messed up by some hooligans or there being no toilet paper (again I think removed by hooligans).
Otherwise this is a great cinema and very much worth it for time out with family or for a date night with your partner.
I would also suggest keeping an eye on Groupon for cheap ticket offers because you can sometimes get 3 tickets for £12 which is a £20...
