Jodhpur Leeds, nestled in the heart of Leeds, offers a fine dining experience that brings authentic Rajasthani and North Indian flavors to the UK. On my recent visit, I had the opportunity to savor a selection of their signature dishes, which left a lasting impression, both for the depth of flavor and the quality of service.

The moment you step into Jodhpur, you’re greeted with a warm, elegant atmosphere. The décor blends modern design with subtle nods to Indian heritage, creating an inviting space for both casual diners and those celebrating special occasions. However, it wasn’t just the ambiance that set the tone—it was the attentive service.

From the moment we were seated, the staff were courteous, professional, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They took time to explain the dishes in detail, highlighting the unique ingredients and preparation methods used. The pacing of the meal was perfect—not too rushed, yet we never felt neglected. The servers were on hand when needed, but not overly intrusive, which made the dining experience truly relaxing.

Now, to the heart of the experience—the food. We ordered several dishes, including the Old Delhi Tikka, Prawn tikka, Jodhpur Lal Maas, and Biryani. Each dish brought something special to the table, both in terms of presentation and flavor.

Old Delhi Tikka: The Old Delhi Tikka was a standout. Tender pieces of chicken, marinated in a rich blend of spices, were cooked to perfection. The smoky flavor from the tandoor really elevated the dish, and the chicken was juicy on the inside with a slightly crisp exterior. The spice level was moderate, allowing the deep flavors of the marinade to shine without overpowering the palate. The accompanying mint chutney added a refreshing tang, balancing the rich flavors of the tikka.

Chicken Chettinad Curry: The chicken chettinad was another highlight. The chciken was succulent, cooked just right so they retained their natural sweetness. The curry itself was a symphony of spices—cumin, coriander, and hints of chili—blended into a smooth, slightly creamy sauce. What impressed me most was the balance; the curry had enough heat to keep things interesting without overwhelming the prawns' delicate flavor. It was perfect with the garlic naan we ordered on the side, soaking up the flavors beautifully.

Jodhpur Lal Maas: As one of Rajasthan’s most famous dishes, the Jodhpur Lal Maas had high expectations to meet—and it did not disappoint. The lamb was incredibly tender, falling apart with just a fork. The curry had a robust, fiery heat, true to its traditional preparation, but it was more than just spicy. The depth of flavor, from the slow-cooked red chili paste to the garlic and yogurt that rounded out the dish, was remarkable. For those who enjoy bold, spicy flavors, this is a must-try.

Biryani: We rounded off the meal with the biryani, which was fragrant and beautifully presented. The rice was perfectly cooked—each grain separate yet moist. However, compared to the other dishes, the biryani felt slightly less memorable, though still very well-executed.

Jodhpur Leeds offers a truly authentic Indian dining experience, with food that showcases the vibrant, bold flavors of Rajasthan and North India. The standout dishes for me were the Old Delhi Tikka and the Jodhpur Lal Maas, both of which exemplified the kitchen's skill in balancing spices and cooking techniques.

The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable without being overwhelming. If you’re in Leeds and looking for an elevated Indian dining experience, Jodhpur is well worth a visit.

Pros: Authentic flavours, excellent service, standout dishes (especially the tikka and lal maas) Cons: Biryani, while good, didn’t stand out as much compared to...

Terrible place.food substandard.even though we booked well in advance we were placed on a table that really should not be there as its right in the doorway and people coming in May aswell be sat on your knee they are that close.malai kofta my girlfriend got was definitely not fresh.never known lumpy rice before either in any Indian restaurant I suspect stuff here is definitely microwaved.i am proud of my heritage my late grandma was Indian so I have some Indian in me so I was deeply offended when I saw receipt as I had asked for hot and my girlfriend mild and they had in brackets british mild for both.talk about racial stereotyping!!!also be aware they will try add on stuff you have not ordered and it seems to us like they are listening in to your private conversations(place is right next door to a well established spy shop..just saying!)as everything we were discussing regarding the experience here someone quickly came over to discuss same topic!!which brings me back to the overcharge we pulled up the waiter who brought us bill about overcharge of £6 for a drink we obviously did not have and as soon as we said it without him even looking at yet alone discussing with the lady who was obviously in charge she came over and snatched the bill from him/us.its definitely obvious to me she was hoping we would not notice the skullduggery but was ready if we did.like I say I suspect we are listened too..finally the toilets were not fit for purpose (a bit like the food)the urinal was taped up leaving just one toilet bowl for all the gents to use which in such a busy place is unacceptable....definitely will not be returning it was one of the worst dining experiences i have ever had.as a footnote can I add the next time we had Indian we tried arusuvai restaurant a bit further up the road(used to be gallery 41)the food here was exquisite as were the staff and the overall ambience was a lot nicer so please if you can avoid jodhpur and try there you will...

Ambiance and Decor Upon entering Jodhpur restaurant, you’re greeted by an enchanting blend of mixed traditional and Indian architecture with modern elegance. The warm lighting, intricate wooden carvings, and vibrant colors create an inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re dining with friends, family, or a special someone, the restaurant’s ambiance sets the stage for a memorable experience. (it's medium size restaurant but well maintained space)

Service and Hospitality The staff at Jodhpur restaurant truly go above and beyond to make your visit exceptional. From the moment you step in, their genuine smiles and attentive service make you feel like a valued guest. They’re knowledgeable about the menu, ready to offer recommendations, and ensure that your dining preferences are met. This restaurant is based out in Kirkstall rd is simply amazing. We’ve been wanting to try it since long time and we had a go. We tried their Sri Lankan Fish and Chicken Thali as they have ‘No sharing’ policy. I must say that the taste was authentic, with variety of indian dishes in a Thali which is enough for a person. The curries were delicious ( Coconut curry in Fish Thali) was just 🫠. You do need to wait a little after you’ve made an order as they try to serve hot food. Cons(My Suggestion): The table mat is too dirty and full of oil stains which doesn’t give a good first impression when we sat on the table. If the restaurant can work something around it as in may be use a Paper mat that includes Menu might be interesting so that customer gets to see and order food as well as you can then throw that paper piece and reduce cleaning work for the staff!
