Dragon Chef — Local services in London

I had high expectations after seeing all the hype on social media, but unfortunately, this place didn’t live up to it. While the food isn’t bad, it’s really just average, more along the lines of a typical fast food spot. We initially planned to go for iftar, and while the staff was accommodating in reserving a table for us, we were disappointed to find out they don’t have customer toilets—definitely inconvenient if you have kids or, like me, prefer to be comfortable before eating. and again, the people on social media (who i appreciate get paid to promote business's) made it seem like its a family friendly place.

not sure if this was just my luck but the chicken chow mein was mostly just noodles with very little chicken—hardly any protein to speak of. The munch box, while generously filled, was about 70% chips, which felt like an attempt to bulk up the portion. There were some fried items like prawn and chicken balls etc, but the ratio just seemed off. My UberEats order came to £56, and honestly, I don’t think there was even 40 grams of protein across the entire order (bear in mind 4 people had it, so perhaps 10g of protien each lol . If you’re looking to carb-load, this place might work, but if you're after a more balanced meal, it’s not ideal.

The beef rice was another letdown—there was more peas than beef, which was disappointing. Overall, if they could balance the protein and portion sizes better, this place would definitely get a higher rating. But as it stands, I can’t justify more...

I recently visited Dragon Chef on Commercial Road, and I must say, it was an outstanding dining experience! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and every team member seemed genuinely eager to ensure we had a great time.

The food itself was exceptional – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It’s clear the chefs take great pride in their dishes. I particularly enjoyed the singapore noodles, which was cooked to perfection and packed with authentic flavors.

But what truly set Dragon Chef apart was the service. The staff were friendly, efficient, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was to our liking. It’s rare to find such a combination of excellent food and top-notch service in one place.

Highly recommend this gem on Commercial Road – I’ll definitely...

Finally a good Chinese takeaway! Ever since my favourite closed down, I have been in the hunt for a classic Chinese meal and this ticked every box!

I ordered through Just Eats delivery. The food arrived on time, piping hot!

The Wonton soup was perfectly flavoured, unlike the watery mess other places serve. The special fried rice had the right amount of soy sauce, lots of meat and adding a bit of Naga pepper made it perfect. The chicken balls were not overcooked, and the sauce a perfect pair. The black pepper beef was the right amount of spicy and not just a soggy mess like other places. Noodles had loads of veggies and the curry sauce was perfectly flavoured.

All in all, a great experience. This is the only Chinese I will order from going forward.
