Lee Fish Bar — Local services in London

Visited at 8pm on a Tuesday evening and was disappointed at the lack of choice available. There was only small cod ready in fish and a limited selection of savouries and pies. They seemed to be packing up for the day although they are apparently open until 10pm. They did offer to cook a large cod (I am not a cod fan) but it would be about a 10 minute wait. I opted for a small cod and chips, which was okay, but neither were especially hot, and the batter had an odd taste (perhaps from the oil). The premises were clean and the staff pleasant but the lack of choice would deter me from recommending this fish and chip shop, and whilst I appreciate that they want to minimise waste having little of the menu ready two hours before closing...

Moved into the area a couple of months ago and was waiting for the right moment to try these guys out. The stars say it all. Have now been there twice in the space of a week and can't say a wrong thing about them. First time I ordered a large cod and chips and it was all cooked perfectly and very tasty. 2nd time was last night and I had a saveloy, sausage and chips. I haven't tasted a saveloy that good in a very long time. They obviously don't cut corners on quality with their suppliers. Add to that they're extremely nice and polite and relaxed demeanor from the moment you walk in and you honestly have the winning formula. So many other places can learn a lot from these guys. Can’t believe it. Used to stop off to this shop all the time a few years back. Ordered through Deliveroo fish and chips and peas. Sealed bag came. No fish. Rang them up and at first the guy says he’ll deliver the fish. Then I get a abusive phone call from a woman screaming down the phone the fish got put in and she said ‘she has cameras’. Well, I didn’t get the fish I paid for and I don’t think I’ve ever been screamed at by a restaurant. Thank God I got the refund through Deliveroo....
