Got a £100 M&S e-gift card some years ago. I took it to M&S in Chelsea and asked one of the staffs at cashier how to redeem it etc. I was told it has no expiry date so I can use it whenever. So I put it aside, forgot about it and then last year when tried to use it via online shopping at M&S, I couldn’t use it. Ever since, I’ve been contacting M&S to resolve this but of course no one is taking responsibility. Plus it’s near impossible to get anyone on the phone and even more difficult to get the email sent out. It seems “Customer service” is not for the customer but designed to stop customers from contacting M&S. When I managed to talk to someone over the phone, she was unprofessional and didn’t know what she was doing. So Chelsea branch is not taking any responsibility, can’t even contact them and whoever that lady was, she obviously is not taking any responsibility of my losing a £100 e-gift card. M&S gave out wrong information to a customer, whether it was due to lack of knowledge, bad training or just not knowing what the hell she was doing, due to her action, I lost £100 but of course M&S is doing its best to tell me that there’s nothing they can do. That is until I started looking for a different snack, then milk which coincidentally he needed a snack and milk at that moment I presume. So I got my milk and when back to the first isle and found some carrot sticks, which resulted in him returning to his original spot. Staff are too quick to blame the head office and issues always need to be reported to customer services before the staff are capable of dealing with the problem at hand.
