I like my meat but the wife convinced me to give this a go, and wow! Upon turning up at about 3pm on Sunday there was a large queue of about 30 odd outside of Netil Market. Apparently they were all waiting for Pockets. The two fellas, waiting behind us patiently, had travelled down all the way from Harrow having been enchanted by their previous experiences. Reluctantly we waited and I'm absolutely glad we did. After about an hours wait, this is the moment we had both been waiting for - delicately soft, moist, bread encapsulating a mix of textures and immense flavours ensuring each bite was different from the next leaving me wanting more. There was no doubt the care taken to prepare each falafel pocket ensured the first of the day was no different in quality from the last. I was welcomingly surprised at how pleasant it was and will be sure to visit again. Unfortunately, I have no photos to share - the aroma and wait led me to impatiently consume it swiftly. At £7 a pocket it was an outright steal - well worth the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen eating falafels all over Europe trying to find the best one and I can confidently say this one is the best, at least from my experience and maybe even the best food in London. I will reorganise my life to visit london more often and one of the reasons is this falafel.
Falafel man (sorry didnāt get his name) makes it with such beautiful motion and precision, itās enjoyable to watch a master at his craft, layering and saucing it to perfection. 6 balls, a fritter, 2 sauces, hummus, sumac onions, pickled things and a roast pepper.
Itās more than a proper meal as well so one is plenty but donāt let that hold you back from indulging and buying 2 so you can have another one later in the day (I regret not doing that now i will have to queu up again later)
Iāll add my friends review as well āHonestly it's ruined falafel for me, I've sampled perfection and everything else is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you're looking for a straight up, genuine falafel - don't bother going here. The people who rave about it seem to want a load of random ingredients and sauces in a wrap. Honestly, I find this place so unbelievably overhyped. Ridiculous queues for a mediocre overstuffed falafel. The falafels are fine - the best thing about them is the inventive extras, but the falafels themselves are essentially bland and they haven't got the balance of sauces right so rely on stuffing with all sorts to 'wow'. But tbh no falafel in London has ever matched the simple, and yet totally delicious, freshly fried falafels I've had in Damascus, Lebanon and Amman - you can't beat the quality of the falafel and tahini and pickles you get in the middle east. The closest are the actual arab-run hole in the wall places where you can pick up cheap-as-chips falafels, without the queues of...
