To explain: the road is called Broadway Market. There are shops and restaurants and bars open mostly Tuesday to Sunday.
It only has a full street of market stalls on a Saturday. On a Sunday, there are a few street food and plant stalls.
Saturday is not a farmers market or a food market. It just happens to have food in the mix. You can buy from the street food stalls and from the farm stalls, the specialities stalls like oysters or cakes and churros or gluten-free bakery. But there is also a dog related stall, books, records, jewellery, pictures, new and vintage clothes, children's clothes, artists, and makers of all sorts. The visitors used to expect shopping, then also some lunch options. Now the road is packed with so many people just for the food stalls that we need to shout a bit about the other aspects to keep it uniquely Broadway Market. A mix of food (with some incredible smelling meat options), clothing, jewellery, flowers, art and other stalls to browse. As a veggie and a pesci we opted for vegetarian momo, a veggie onigiri (which looked rather more like a Japanese taco) and a salmon handroll from three different vendors. There are plenty of picnic tables set up on the street to sit at and we had no problem finding a space quickly. We also picked up some chilli pate and etna pesto from the cheese stall, some 'handmade in Hackney' trousers and a hairband from clothing and accessory vendors. We had a few snacks (empanadas £3 each, fruit juices £5 each, ice cream £4.50 a small from ‘Wave’ who do many vegan flavours ‘1st kiss in soho’ which is the hazelnut chocolate flavour us highly recommended, and the vegan dark chocolate is also very good. From the stalls we had the pad thai with tofu (love!), and the vegan indian dish (beans as protein with rice) i think those were £9 each. We chose to sit on the park edge as it was sunny. They also have lots of places to get coffee and cakes from, you can sit in one of the restaurants. Prices have gone up recently, the Onigiri at OKKO is now £7. There are new gluten free stalls.
