The actual restaurant was beautiful and the drinks were also very nice. However, the food was a big let down. The cheese quesadilla was nice but really expected something more punchy as opposed to just melted cheese in a toasted tortilla - maybe some spring onions or herbs would’ve turned this up a notch . The tacos were also disappointing. We ordered the cod and steak tacos which lacked flavour. The only flavour note which came through was that from the fish and meat alone and the toppings/sauces did not contribute at all. We ordered the short rib for main which I must admit, was a huge portion (enough for 4 people). The dish looked super impressive when it arrived to the table but was hideously overcooked and dry when we tasted it! This was such a big shame because it was a lovely cut of meat and could’ve been so so good if it was cooked right. The mini corn tortillas were very nice though and tasted homemade. Despite this, I would say the service was great. We asked to have an additional dish cancelled as the short rib portion ended up being so big. The waitress and kitchen staff were really helpful and facilitated this despite it being a late request - appreciate that! Overall, the restaurant has great potential but big improvements need to be made to the food. The flavours need to be punchier, spicer and...
Read moreGreat Mexican joint right next to the best building in London. I’m not a Mexican food expert but I rate this place!
Fish taco - 8.5/10 Fish cooked well, moist and flakey, batter was crispy which contrasted well. Condiments and dressing paired superb. Fish could do with some more seasoning. Best dish, had to order two portions.
Padron taco - 7/10 Deep fried and battered pepper, great flavour and texture. Batter separated from pepper when taking bite not sure if I need better teeth??
Steak taco - 7/10 Meaty and beefy flavour although slightly chewy. The sauce was really good though.
Pork taco - 6/10 Pulled pork looked a bit dry and was a bit dry (no photo sorry). I think would be better with the steak taco sauce (hint hint).
Prawn taco - 6/10 Prawn was marinaded nicely and juicy. Red sauce was a bit overpowering, took too much away from the base flavours.
Pumpkin taco - 8/10 If I were vegetarian or vegan I’d say this was the best dish. Very complex flavours, sweet, savoury, spicy. Texture maybe leaned more on the mushy side?
Overall - 8/10 I’ve been here a few times and I think it will become regular place for me, esp on taco Tuesdays. I would recommend the tacos for sure, the quesadillas aren’t bad either, nachos are fine. Service and vibe...
Read moreTo start with the good: the restaurant is very nice and has a nice vibe - I particularly appreciated the water served in the patron bottles!
The food however was just so mediocre. The topotos and guac was nice enough as were the padron peppers, which were a good sized portion. The steak tacos were quite tasty, and the cocktails were fine, albeit small.
The pork tacos were lacking in flavour and having just reviewed the menu, definitely did not come with any of the advertised additions. I should have read the reviews before ordering the £11 prawn tacos which come with a single somewhat rubbery prawn per taco, and were served with far too gochuhang. The sea bass was also disappointing - for £19, I'd expect someone to either remove the skin from the fillet of fish or crisp it up, and to ensure that the dish had some kind of seasoning.
Our bill for three of us came to £144, inc tip. The service was fine, nothing special, and they almost charged us twice due to a mix up with one of our card payments. I don't like leaving poor reviews, and I see that other people have rated the restaurant highly, hence my deciding to visit. It's just disappointing to spend a significant amount of money and be left...
