Where to start with Westcombe. For the first few weeks of living at Westcombe . I had three parcels stolen and when I told the front desk about it, I was told by Donna that it was not her job to check the CCTV (mind you our contract said they would be 24 hour security, she worked for the 10-4 if we where lucky), after that, it just got worse we had periods of having no warm water, a rat infestation which took months to get rid of (still wasn’t sorted by the time we moved out), a gas leak and a cleaner that never turned up, Maintenance, who never actually fixed anything just tape It or said they’ll come back and never did, washing machines and dryers that were always broken and really expensive. For a month I had no kitchen appliances as the socket was broken. My sink was leaking and my shower did not drain so considering I’m paying for a studio (£1.5k+ extortionate if I can add) I was not getting what I was paying for. I had to shower in my friends room every day and ended up cooking downstairs which resulted in me burning myself carrying hot pots back upstairs. All these were reported to maintenance and the front desk on multiple occasions and instead I was completely ignored or lied to that maintenance would come into my room and fix it. The day maintenance did come into my room to “fix it” he used one of my butter knives to break his way into my shower and left a mess everywhere and left without fixing it or cleaning up. After a month of complaining and asking for it to be fixed it took me threatening Westcombe and CRM with suing or reporting them to the housing association for them to move me to a different room halfway through my tenancy instead of fixing things, low, and behold the plug that operated all kitchen appliances in the new room was also broken as well as the chair. Over the period that I lived at Westcombe we had three different site managers. Donna( what a woman absolutely hated her job. Don’t know why she bothered ) Robert came and went did nothing, Zainab, who tried to fix things. No support from Management and was basically thrown to the wolves. The cherry on top of an absolute disaster cake was the week of moving the building put in place a security guard to Man the building up until 10 o’clock so people who were busy during working hours could still check out. When I went to the building to collect the last of my belongings and to hand in my checkout form and keys,I found security not at the front desk, but instead in the lounge asleep, and just ignoring everyone walking around the building .this place is a complete joke and I would not...
Read moreI had the pleasure of staying at Westcombe House for an entire academic year, and it was truly an exceptional experience. Located in the heart of Greenwich, London, Westcombe House offers the perfect blend of convenience, comfort, and community. The proximity to the university, local shops, and transport links made it incredibly easy to balance my academic and social life.
The accommodation itself is top-notch. My room was comfortable , modern, and thoughtfully designed, with everything I needed to feel at home—a comfortable bed, ample storage, and a well-equipped study space. The communal areas, including the kitchen and lounge, were always clean and provided a great environment for socializing with other students. The building also had excellent amenities, like a gym and laundry facilities, which were convenient and well-maintained.
Safety and security were top priorities at Westcombe House, and I always felt comfortable and at ease during my stay. The secure entry system and on-site management gave me peace of mind, allowing me to focus on my studies and enjoy my time in London.
In summary, my time at Westcombe House was nothing short of excellent. The combination of a prime location, high-quality facilities, and a supportive community made it the perfect place to call home for the year. I would highly recommend Westcombe House to any student looking for accommodation in Greenwich. It was truly a home...
Read moreI’ve lived here for nearly a year, and my experience has been less than satisfactory. And that is my honest review.
Noise was a significant issue in my studio, with thin walls and floors making it hard to enjoy any peace with loud noises. I’ve also encountered numerous maintenance problems that weren’t addressed properly during my stay, and security is lacking, especially after hours.
Package deliveries were challenging due to limited access hours. I had issues with the digital locks that weren’t resolved promptly, leaving me locked out late at midnight once.
There were frequent service disruptions in the building. I also noticed that the property is listed on “Booking” for short-term rentals, leading to non-residents entering the premises as if it’s a hotel, which made me feel uneasy. I noticed efforts to improve the property only when I was moving out, which felt insincere.
On a positive note, the receptionist “general manager” was very kind and helpful throughout my stay, though in my opinion she seemed unfairly blamed for issues beyond her control that happened to the building.
In summary, despite the appearance, living here has been uncomfortable and disappointing for what I payed. I hope this review helps others make a more informed decision. And I wished more of peoples comments here were honest and...
