This is a regular haunt when it comes to fulfilling our meatball cravings. The restaurant is large, and usually well staffed (though not always) and is always popular. Half price meals on fridays (Update May 2025 - not sure if still the case. Didn't see any ads for it today. Also, the fish is most unpleasant. Supposed to be battered Haddock. Doesn't taste like haddock and the batter is like some weird thick bread. Took one bite and left it. Stick to meatballs!). The layout is a little illogical, requiring you to decide if you want a dispenser drink before you have paid and can see what's on offer, so keep that in mind. And most of the components of the meals are available to buy at the store exit - I always come home with bags of meatballs, plantballs (which are delicious and take 2 mins in the microwave per serving) and veggieballs, as well as the gravy and lingonberry sauce! Don't use the restaurant of an evening however... packed, took about 30 mins to buy food, and the place was FILTHY because people are straight-up disgusting (I always feel justified in being a complete misanthrope after every unavoidable trip away from home which includes people instead of 🐕🐕). Every available table was dirty, many chairs were, filth on the floors, the tray-trolleys left everywhere, blocking the walkways, and completely uncontrolled children running around causing mayhem because too many parents there seem to treat the place as a managed playground instead of a restaurant. Th store itself is well stocked, though not easy to navigate - shortcuts definitely get missed sometimes! And, as with many such places, prices for items will sometimes not be visible, and due to signal deadspots in the store, one can't always easily check online and there're not always staff around to ask. But the range of goods is very good and mostly good quality too, particularly kitchenwares etc.
They also do a lovely range of potted plants - indoor and outdoor - at good prices. The lavender does very well, though the zantedeschias seem to be causing problems for many who have purchased them, based on website reviews, so be aware they may not last long. The phalaenopsis are some of the best I have ever purchased, and my celosias are doing great too. Currently, they have small pineapple plants for sale and they're fantastic.
As with all Ikeas, there is a large parking area outside, plenty of trolleys, and people to assist with the large items. The queues are always a pain but they do have self-service checkouts which can make things quicker - though not shorter... it's like being at a theme park with the amount one has to walk to get through the checkouts.
And there is, of course, hotdog and icecream available to replenish lost energy as one exits the checkouts.
Should you find yourself wasting an afternoon in ikea with coffee and daim cake, head on up to the...
Read moreAlthough I have been here before and purchased items, again I enjoyed my weekday afternoon ( 1355pm to 1545pm) visit and experience at IKEA GREENWICH on Wednesday 4/9/24. Always busy here at this Scandinavian home furniture chain store, and always a bargain to be found. IKEA Greenwich store is huge, very large open plan ground and 1st floor space, well ventilated, good lighting, clean and hygenic, organised displays, and importantly accommodating spacious lift access. It has all the disabled facilities here; ♿ lifts, plenty of car parking spaces disabled ♿ in a large car park, disabled ♿ toilets inside, disabled access ♿ glass swing door entrance / exit. A good customer services ( ground floor) with a ( and enquiry made beforehand....) a disabled wheelchair hire service for which my disabled wife fully appreciated and found a blessing! Plenty of home furniture items to cater for all needs at very good prices.👍The staff I found very friendly, helpful, cheerful, polite, courteous in any questions asked or other customer assistance. Well marked floor routes with white arrows to guide you along direction flow to the various furniture showrooms. Staff close at hand at easily reached enquiry or payment points around the circuit (Ist floor). A canteen for customers on the ground floor. Very happy of the bedroom storage items we ordered and purchased. Delivery and assembly service if required of items delivered to your home...and at a fair reasonable charge. But our thanks goes to Sumaira (Sales staff) on the Ist floor. Sumaira represents the company and good brand name of IKEA, everything excellent and of the highest business standards in dealing with our sale. I cannot thank Sumaira enough...I hope this lovely young lady gets considered for promotion to the IKEA board of management! Thank you Sumaira, thanks to you for your very kind professional help and patience during our sale and transaction. Likewise appraisal to all the good people of IKEA. My wife and I will definitely return to buy some more of your wide range and choice of excellent quality products. IKEA Greenwich is situated off the Blackwall Tunnel Approach (A102) in Bugsby Way on the Greenwich peninsula, London SE10. Bus stop - Millenium Leisure Park East (just outside by the store entrance), bus services Nos.108,129,132,161,180,335,472,486. TFL London Underground 🚇 (Jubilee line) North Greenwich Station nearby. British Rail overground services nearest stations either Westcombe Park or Charlton ( Thames link- South Eastern). All these rail stations have connecting bus services just outside these stations. IKEA GREENWICH open 7 days a week ( please check opening times...10am to 2100pm weekday). IKEA for me, a rating of A1, 10/10. All the very best in the...
Read moreA complete and utter shambles. Staff were disinterested and confused. Going to IKEA is almost never a stress-free experience, but this was definitely the worst experience I've ever had in any IKEA. The way they make you walk around in a certain route is always irritating, but it's been executed so poorly here that loads of times I saw people doubling back on themselves, them realising that they were in a section they'd already seen.
You've read all the stuff about that roof terrace, and want to check it out, yeah? Bad luck, it's closed. Classic sign of a project that was rushed through, and opened before it was ready. I doubt you're missing much: the terrace looked tragic.
Let's talk about the restaurant: the restaurant was total chaos. If you've got little kids, bring your own cutlery because the only available cutlery was plastic knives! (Note to Ikea: little kids have their food cut up for them. They don't need knives - they need spoons and forks!) I appreciate that some of them may have been nicked - but not so many that would explain why the kids' cutlery drawers contained nothing but piles upon piles of plastic knives.
The area where you get your food was awful: stupidly laid-out and unbelievably slow. The layout of the seating area was bizarre too: a rack of books for children, miles away from the place with all the other kids' stuff (a nursing area, food station, and one of the saddest little play areas I've ever seen).
And then this utterly weird place where your take your tray. There's a sign telling you to leave your tray there, they'll take care of it etc. But there's also these tiny holes where you're encouraged to separate out your waste and throw it away. Fine if you want to, say, chuck a bottle in the glass bin. It was the food waste that was the problem. Loads of presumably well-meaning customers had tried to sweep the food off their plates, into the tiny hole. As a consequence, there was food all over the floor. Shout out to the lady who kept clearing it up every 10 minutes or so, in between wiping all of the tables down. Single-handedly. That woman is the reason this review gets any stars at all.
Anyway, check out the photo of the buttons in the lift. It completely sums up this shop, and the experience you'll have there. I'm sure I'll come back one day. I hope when I do, I'm able to give it a much...
