The Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park is a genuine oasis of calm within the increasingly built-up locale of North Greenwich. The main entrance to the park is by the Thames Path and leads to a number of paths through the well-managed wilds that provide a glimpse of a the pre-urbanised Thames foreshore now largely developed away.
The public pathway through the Ecology Park from the nearby children's playground to the Thames Path is lush and green through spring spring and summer while sustaining good cover in autumn and winter, insulating one from the surrounding neighbourhood noise, if only briefly.
The springtime parade as the Canadian Geese lead their goslings from the lake to the park to pick at the newly sprouting grass is also an annual highlight to watch for.

Luckily you have this amazing oasis of peace in the ecology park. On entering there is an excellent information centre, staffed by volunteers. They have a very good reference library and activities for children. Broad walks take you through the park to 2 bird hides, insect hotels and a new dipping centre. Read moreThis place is amazing and should be protected. The nature I have seen here is second to none, and you never feel rushed. The staff here are enthusiastic and knowledgeable, giving their time to chat and their free time to conservation efforts. They really care! There is a small bookshop here too (bring cash), and often events on for children, eg in holidays. There is an outdoor classroom which is often used for the children's events.
