We booked Sushi Chef for a Japanese Omakase dinner for my birthday, and paid to have a waitress serve as we were 10 people. It was over £1500 for a 15 course menu which Max (from SushiChef) and my partner went through together and agreed what was possible to do, Nobu style. We also agreed dessert with matcha mochi to be served, as well as all dinnerware, plates and serving boats. Firstly, an Italian chef arrived, wearing scruffy shoes and clothes- and although very sweet, he was not prepared as Max had not even informed him of the job until 3pm that day (it’s not possible to get high end good cuts of fish from the fishmonger at this time of the day!) and also not shared the menu that we were promised, meaning the high end sushi experience we were hoping to cater for our guests was not delivered. There was no tableware, plates or bowls and only 1 large plate for serving. Wooden chopsticks were given, but thankfully we had our own bamboo bowls otherwise we wouldn’t have had anything. But even so it was not presentable and looked horrible. No mochi or dessert was provided either. The waitress was supposed to arrive 30min before guests arrived, around 730. At 830 she still had not showed up, and we were not given a number to contact her. We called Max over and over again, he didn’t bother answering the phone and instead kept saying that the waitress was outside. My partner ran out several times in the rain and there was no one there, and Max kept ignoring calls and refusing to give her number to us. I asked the chef if he knew about a waitress and he said he wasn’t given any info about the event at all but there was most likely no waitress ordered and this happened several times and he had actually quit because he hadn’t even met his boss after working for 2 years and they owed him money for about 6 months.
Beyond that the food was so below mediocre, I haven’t actually had sushi that doesn’t have any flavour, and I feel bad saying that because the chef was a nice guy but he is not a Nobu experience sushi chef, he’s not even YoSushi- he still has a lot of training to go and this is the level of service you get paying £150 a head - WITHOUT alcohol or dessert.
This was my birthday dinner and really put such a downer on the whole evening. Max didn’t seem to care that he had almost ruined my birthday. We paid for everything listed above and weren’t even given a third of it. No waitress No tableware No dessert 4/15 items of the dinner menu We obviously complained, Max said he would speak to relevant parties and find out what happened and then has gone completely silent. We’ve been patient about it and not rude, explained how dissatisfied we were and wanted to come to an arrangement without writing bad reviews but he is not answering phone calls for over a month or replying to texts.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! You will waste a lot of money and be very very disappointed and embarrassed. Rather order from Nobu, it’s way cheaper to get the original Nobu experience than this piece of...

My friend ordered a big delivery order for her sister’s birthday with 10 people attending. £180 worth of order and not even £30 worth of stuff was actually delivered.
When we noticed the mistake we in good faith thought we were delivered the wrong order and tried to get in touch with Max Anglin who is supposedly the manager of the restaurant and the person dealing with the order and who also delivered it. Max never replied to our emails texts and phone calls and blocked my friend number and switched off the phone.
The next morning Max sent an email saying all was delivered. When called he hung up the phone. He started texting on WhatsApp and tried to convince us that everything was delivered when it is obvious that it wasn’t the case. We asked for a refund and denied that. His excuse for not answering the phone was that the office was closed after 6pm when he gave us his personal mobile number... anyways, if a customer has something to discuss after 30mins from the delivery you would expect the supplier to at least pick up the phone and try and solve the issue.
Moreover the few things we were delivered were of poor quality. A total embarrassment for our guests that we had over and ruined our sisters wedding.
When asked for a refund he said to call the office on opening hours only.

Don't have this, don't have that and only accept orders that are made 2-3 hours before because they are soooooo 'busy' doing other things. Called, called, called and only got answer phones. 15 minutes before my guests arrive, get a call saying 'you called my phone'. Explained and emailed receipt of order (made at 2.30 in the afternoon) but that made no difference. Disgusted. Was offered 50% off next order and when made - was given the scraps. 30 pieces of salmon for what was advertised as at least 3 different types of fish. Hosting a Chinese New Year dinner party - embarrassed. No explanation, no sorry, no message and I can see that they have seen the messages. Couldn't give a damn. So, Sushi Chef - you've joined Nobu.
