This yoga studio in Brixton is absolutely top class; without a shadow of a doubt the best I’ve ever been to – and I’ve been to lots!
When I first moved to London I spent a while trying to find a good studio but found them all soulless, uninspiring and samey with styles of yoga that felt competitive rather than exploratory.
I stumbled upon Yoga Point one day and I’m so glad I did – what a breath of fresh air. The vibe is inclusive, unpretentious, serene and fun so it’s no wonder it attracts a huge mix of people and ages.
There’s a host of expert teachers with different styles and specialities meaning that there’s something for everyone and you can mix it up if you ever get bored of a class.
My favourite classes are Vaccasin’s because he has a very calming presence and is extremely knowledgeable. I always leave having learnt something new about a certain pose or the practice of yoga or meditation in general and I love that.
He also makes an effort to immediately learn everyone’s name and speak to everyone in the class; finding out about their specific practice to essentially tailor the best possible experience to each person.
There is also brilliant restorative yoga and meditation offered as well as great workshops on things like inversions.
Also, aesthetically, Yoga Point is just such a nice, peaceful space to be in. It has high ceilings, beautiful light and skylights so you can gaze up at the sky when you’re in shavasana.
This is a truly special place and a real asset to the community.
Even though I’ve now moved from the Brixton/Herne Hill area I still travel back to go to classes – that’s how much I love it.
I can’t recommend this place enough!!! Thank you Rebecca...
Read moreI first visited Yoga Point in September 2022 and had not done yoga before. I joined a 6-week class for complete beginners, taught by Vaccasin, and have been attending classes regularly ever since. I have taken classes with many teachers here (including Vaccasin, Nina, Márton, Effie, Georgie, Linda, Paula, Shruti and Suhad) and like them all. I appreciate the variety of different types of yoga that can be practised at this studio (eg Iyengar, vinyasa flow, power, restorative) and the way that all levels of experience are welcome and supported. They also regularly organise courses and special classes, such as Nina’s introduction to inversions class, which allows a chance to explore specific aspects of yoga in more depth/for a longer session. I have always found the management and the teachers to be knowledgeable, kind, generous and inclusive. It is a calm studio space, with lots of natural light, good ventilation and an appropriate temperature; it’s equipped with plenty of props (mats, ropes, blocks, etc), and the facilities are always clean. I usually go to the studio, but I have also taken classes via Zoom when I have been away from home and the online experience has been good. They offer different pricing options and I think it’s excellent value for money. If you’re thinking of trying yoga, this is a great place to learn. I think we are very lucky to have to have this studio in the Brixton/Herne Hill area – certainly I feel very lucky to have it near me! (I know there is also a therapy room, which is supposed to be good, but I haven’t...
