Visited Mylos Chophouse on an early Tuesday evening. The restaurant was fairly quiet, and our starters and mains were served within about ten minutes of placing the order. While that might sound like a good thing, it did make me question how fresh the food actually was, and after trying everything, it became clear that very little seemed to be prepared in-house from scratch.

For starters, I had the dynamite chicken. The sauce didn’t taste homemade and came across as something shop-bought. The chicken itself had the texture of frozen, pre-packaged pieces rather than fresh chicken breast.

For the mains, I tried both the beef fillet and the ribeye. I wasn’t entirely sure what the difference was meant to be, but the ribeye was slightly chewier. The garlic bread seemed to be from a frozen baguette, and the slices we were served were from the end of the loaf, so they had no garlic on them. The mash didn’t taste freshly prepared either and had the flavour of something ready-made or reheated.

I had never tried Swiss butter sauce before, so I have nothing to compare it to, but the one at Mylos was quite tangy and quickly became bland after a few bites. It isn’t a sauce you could really enjoy throughout the meal.

Perhaps the burgers might be better, but after this experience and with most dishes tasting like they had come from frozen or pre-packaged ingredients, I would not be in a hurry to return.

A small seating area so I imagine it would fill up quite quick on busy nights and there would be queues. Limited street parking. Food isn’t served piping hot. Spent £72 on mocktails, starter and mains for 2 people.

Edit: Thank you for your reply. I understand that Mylos operates an open plan kitchen, which is all well and good, but it makes little difference if the seating area is not within sight or earshot of that space. Guests seated away from it would have no way of observing how food is prepared.

To clarify, my review did not state that your dishes were pre-packaged or reheated, but that they tasted that way. That is a subjective observation based on my personal experience, which I am entitled to share in a review. Reviews are opinions, not factual claims, and mine reflects how the food came across to me as a customer.

It is also worth noting that I am not the only person in this reviews section who has expressed a similar view about the food quality. For that reason, suggesting that my comments are “misleading” or reporting them to Google feels unnecessary and unfair.

I shared my feedback in good faith, and while I appreciate your clarification, I stand by my experience and the...

If I could describe my experience in one word it would probably be diabolical. Let me tell you about my experience in this grotty little place. A group of us decided to try this place for a friends birthday meal after seeing it on TikTok. After driving an hour to get to this dump, parking was an issue. Unless you want to park on double yellow lines there is no actual parking for this place. After being told half an hour waiting time, we waited over an hour and a half to be seated. Once we walked in we realised why there were queues outside , because it accommodates a maximum of 30 people at any given time. The place is twice the size of an average living room. The staff look miserable and stressed out like they really don’t want to be there. We ordered 3 of all the starters which were not really warm at all and didn’t taste very appeasing. The mains came about half an hour later which were 12 steaks. The waiter dropped the food from my mates plate on my head (quite literally) instead of apologising like a normal civilised human being and offer a serviette what did he start doing? Giggling. The guy did not speak a word of English. Normal businesses advertise for staff on indeed but I think this establishment found their workers coming off the dinghies at Dover. Anyhow all the steaks were cold bland and chewy. Some overcooked and some undercooked. One of my friends got his food after we all finished. The staff do not understand English at all or just decide to act dumb and ignore you. The owner came over after we finished and asked how it was, we told him it wasn’t a good experience and he wasn’t really bothered he just wanted his table back so he could con the next lot of people waiting outside. Don’t believe the TikTok hype. Don’t waste your time and money on this shoddy little place it’s all just hype. Ruined my mates...

I'm not sure what to make of this place.

On one hand I'm understanding that it's just recently opened so there will be teething issues. On the other hand, it was quite embarrassing the whole journey.

Parking is an issue.

Waiting is also a big issue.

Once we're asked how many people, there's no way of knowing where you are in the queue as some peoole wait in cars or round the corner. We had a couple in front of us and then they waited in the car. Whilst we waited outside, we got called in before them as they were out of sight.

They came a few minutes later and we could tell they weren't happy.

As it is as sunny yesterday, I didn't mind waiting outside, but can you imagine if it's raining or cold, where will people wait? I asked the question and they said it's something they are addressing by apparently having a canopy outside.

Anyway, sat down, ordered food. Ordering was fine.

Got the starters, wings, and they just served it in the pan. No plates to eat from.

The mains came, and they were OK. Nothing to boast about like it's blowing up on social media.

One thing i find odd is how quickly the waiters wanted to clear our table. It was quite uncomfortable.

As soon as you put your fork down, they came over hastily wanting to take plate away, indirectly wanting us to get up and go.

Average place but decent value for money, relatively.

Good luck to them but it felt as if they weren't open to productive criticism or opinions. Typical of such places.

No pictures taken as we're not that sort and we tend to go for the food rather than how good...

Nice little place. Tried the Ribeye board with fries and garlic bread, the meat was a little chewier than expected, would have liked it a little softer. The flavours were 10/10, the sauce was lovely. The portion sizes are great.
