Chestnuts Coffee Shop — Restaurant in Oadby and Wigston

Having given this coffee shop numerous tried over the last few months we have consistently been greeted with the same thing. The coffee and food is amazing… however. Are you dog friendly or not? 4 times now we have been met with the same grumpy owner criticising us about our dogs. We have replied politely but he just keeps going- keep that dog on the lead- it’s extremely condensending and I didn’t want to say anything but it’s getting ridiculous now. I am a dog owner and I know how to keep my dog under control. It is a really unwelcoming vibe as he constantly makes comments regarding the dogs and it’s just really unpleasant to be met with. Previously the man ran outside before we even made it up the drive to shout at us to get the dog on the lead. We had literally stepped out the car and were about to attach it. I would never enter a coffee shop if my dog was off leash. My dog had done nothing but step foot inside on this occasion. I think this place needs to decide if it classes as dogs welcome or not because the message I get every time is that it is a major issue if you go here with a dog and that you are not welcome.

This coffee shop is amazing. The coffee is to die for and the cakes there is just no words. Staff so friendly. I would recommend to everyone. I would say 100% better then Costa coffee. I loved Costa coffee but now I will only go to chestnut. Please support your local small businesses through this horrible time. They need the custom more then the big chain coffee shops and the coffee and cakes so much better just stunning and very good priced. I have also been for brunch before. My poached egg was really nice. Also, if your like me and you have a gluten intolerance then you don’t need to worry there, there is gluten free bread and cakes. I always struggle to find places that serve gluten free so this is a massive positive for me.

Family members have also had the afternoon tea from chestnut and said it’s incredible. I have never tried it personally but from the pictures looked amazing.

Terrible quality sausage, hashbrown was seriously undercooked and soggy. Service was good but not quick, the bacon was ok but really thin and in pieces. The drinks were fine hot drinks were good.
