Court Candy Shop — Local services in Oxford

For 10 years Court Candy has delivered newspapers to my home in Summertown with the utmost care and reliability. Papers are never left where they can get wet and always arrive well before breakfast. On the few occasions when papers arrive late it is always due to distribution problems beyond the control of the newsagent and a prompt apology with explanation is invariably supplied. Accurate and easily understood invoices are supplied with my newspaper delivery and can be paid in a variety of ways.

The stock of publications on sale at the shop is wide and includes foreign newspapers and magazines. Sneaky looks at headlines and even the occasional article of newspapers on display are met by the staff with a polite pretence of not noticing. During the Covid lockdown Khanak, the hard-working manager, enabled those locked down to receive essential food and other items with their newspaper delivery.

We have been Court Candy customers for 15 years or so and have always found them a model of efficiency, reliability and above all else friendliness. Nothing has ever been too much trouble for them in our day-to day dealings with them. But the period of the pandemic has seen them rise to new heights of customer service. My wife and I - both elderly - have been in severe lockdown but have been able to take great comfort from the knowledge that any need we might have had, however small or difficult, would be met after a simple phone call. We have particularly appreciated the willingness of Khanak, the proprietor's daughter, to ensure that we were never short of essentials. Court Candy and Khanak, the owner and staff, have been a beacon of friendly, supportive community service over many years, none more so than in the recent year.
