Dining at Brasserie Blanc in Oxford was nothing short of exceptional — a true dream on a plate. I had the slow-cooked pork belly, my husband chose the duck confit, and both dishes were spectacular.
The pork belly was perfectly executed: crisp and golden on the outside, yet meltingly tender inside. It came beautifully presented, with vibrant vegetables cooked to perfection, a balance of protein, carbs, and greens, and a delicate apple cider sauce that tied everything together. Every bite combined textures — crisp, soft, juicy — and layers of flavor that felt both comforting and refined.
The duck confit was equally memorable: succulent, rich, and paired with accompaniments that elevated the dish without overwhelming its natural depth of flavor. It was clear that every ingredient had been carefully selected and treated with respect.
And then came the highlight — the pistachio dessert. Truly a masterpiece. Achieving such a silky yet complex texture is rare, and the flavor was simply unforgettable: nutty, delicate, and indulgent all at once.
I have had the privilege of dining in several Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and I can honestly say that the dishes I experienced here — from start to finish — were fully comparable in quality, execution, and creativity.
The service was warm and professional, the staff attentive and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere elegant without being pretentious. Brasserie Blanc Oxford has earned a place at the very top of my dining experiences. Everyone should have the chance to enjoy...

Having booked here for me and my partner's anniversary, we arrived and our table was just being laid. From there it was downhill fast. No olives, I understand, they ran out of appetizers meh, I can deal with. Ordered a bottle if fizz, our starters and mains, chilled out with high expectations on a fantastic afternoon about in Oxford ahead having driven up from Somerset... Starters arrived, my risotto and partner had the crab cakes, it was okay. Just ok. When our mains arrived I was asked if I wanted ketchup with my Stonebass! I can only assume they were joking. It came across as them judging me as to someone who wasn't of a class to eat in their restaurant... The Mrs had the gnocchi, some were piping hot, some stone cold, missing the artichoke, I pointed this out to our waiter, who didn't apologise, just told us sometimes mistakes were made. Fine, yes they are, but can you remedy those mistakes? No. He doesn't get paid enough to deal with dissatisfied customers...the rant ensued with him telling us it wasn't his fault, we should just eat what we were given mumblings and grumblings, others got involved, my mood fast went downhill. Unhappy I asked to talk to a manager, Sami the managers de-escalation was fine professional and acceptable. But it should never have got to this stage. I will never return. I will tell all I know never to waste their money.
This is the kind of experience you see on movies. On kitchen nightmares.

Read moreOur first time here since the renovation and I remembered the food as good before but today left me a bit disappointed. Firstly, the service is slow - we came just after 12 and there were 2 or 3 tables before us but it took over half an hour for the main to arrive. Maybe they were waiting for my son to finish his carrot sticks but no-one asked if we wanted the food to come together. Also the prix fixe menu was not offered until I asked.
Secondly, the food is just not as good as I remembered. I got the hake and it was something I could have made at home, it was a piece of fish on some lumpy mashed potatoes and there was no salad or any vegetables that came with it. I almost asked if part of the dish was missing as it was so small. But mostly the flavour was just not delicious. Maybe I'm expecting too much. I got the trifle for dessert, which had good rhubarb, very good honeycomb (wish there was more) but the sponge was so hard I could not go through it with my spoon to get to the jelly...
But the scariest thing for me was there was a large bone in the trout from my son's kids meal. I only discovered it when he gave me his piece. When I told the waitress to inform the kitchen, she just shrugged and said these things happen... Please check the fish more thoroughly, especially for kids meals, as children could hurt themselves on the bones and cause a great scare for the family. It still gives me anxiety now hence my urge to leave...
