Large well-appointed Greene King pub in Jericho, Oxford, with outside covered seating and plenty of tables inside to eat a meal or watch sports with friends and family. Staff are friendly and helpful and table service is available through the Greene King app. The food is pretty decent and well priced though making use of any deals, or student discount (none at weekends though), obviously provides better value. Reserving a table is suggested as it can get busy at the usual peak times. During the week you should be fine though. Yeah, decent place.

One of the best names for a pub I've ever heard is only one of many reasons to go to this Oxford eatery. Great selection of beers, ales and stout and a delicious rendition of the traditional fish and chips with mushy peas is another. Lovely design and decor grace the interior and there's also outdoor space for warmer weather. I plan on going back to try other pub mainstays before leaving the area. Friendly staff and eclectic clientele make this place ideal for adults of all ages.

The sign and the name alone drew me in (I learned later the meaning of these). The exterior of this pub is appealing and yet when you enter it becomes even more appealing. This is a very traditional and gorgeous pub with welcoming and helpful staff. The cask ale selection here is lovely and I really enjoyed the obvious choice of the 'Obscurity' beer. Perfect temperature and well-kept. I must return for food too as this looked and smelled great!

Extremely rude staff with no manners and poor roast dinner. Won’t be coming back. On entry we were greeted by staff explaining the rules that now apply. I asked a few simple questions to which another member of staff walking pass then started being extremely rude and raising his voice at me before walking off shouting something about being THE LAW. Once we had adhered to all the RULES we were seated. Feeling a bit annoying how I was just spoken to i asked another member of staff for the rude guys name so I could complain to the manager. He said I’m the manager and you don’t need to know his name and apparently I was the rude one for asking questions. He agreed he shouldn’t have raised his voice but that’s that. I was a bit bemused by this and asked what I had actually done wrong to which he also started raising his voice and told me to go and sit now. Now normally I would have told him where to go and left but was with my family and they were hungry. I ended up not eating because the staff manners were disgusting and put me right off. One of the meals ordered was not available and the roast beef was not great. 3 slices of beef, 5 potatoes that looked awful, 1 Yorkshire pudding and peas. They clearly had issues with us as table across from us had same roast beef but much more than we did. Never once given an apology and avoided me when trying to pay. Our server eventually let me pay and gave me the manager’s name when I asked. Timothy apparently. Well Timothy, I’m appalled by your behaviour and the other member of staff, never did find out his name. I understand they have rules they need to stick to In these difficult times but just no need for rudeness for paying customers to which you’ve just lost some more. Shame really, used to be a nice pub. Don’t waste your time, go...

A truly unpleasant experience with very rude service! Their boss told us he was rude to us, just because he had a busy day. I don't believe a pub with this bad service can be a pleasant place to have a beer and social with your friends. Please not come to this pub again!!

We booked a table for a group of 8 at outside sittings in the Jude for tonight's world cup. To gather a big group, we arrived 10min late, but found no empty tables reserved for us. I went to bar to ask for help. It was extremely busy, so I waited about 10min and eventually got a lady to help. She came with me and found no reserved table for us. Then she offered to check with her boss.

Here is where things went horribly wrong. The boss came with very angry face and told us we were 20min late and they can only keep reservations for 15min, so our table was given to other people. Two things were absolutely wrong: 1) We were not 20min late, so they gave our table away much shorter than what they claimed; 2) there was no information about this rule - not on their website, no information to me when I was making the booking. In fact, I think they only came up the rule when the boss wanted to justify why there was no table for us.

The boss was so rude that I simply responded, 'you are being angry with us.' And he replied, 'I just had a long busy day.' So he is being rude to his customer because he is not in a good mood??!!

I found out it is the customer's legal right to have the reserved table. Here are two sources of information. Please protect your right next time you are...

My favourite pub ever. Been going there for the rugby every year now for 4 years, and it's so fun and the staff are so lovely every time. It's fantastic for watching sports, there's a massive telly at one end and two smaller ones at the other, the food is always good and the outside space is pretty much half the pub again with 2 tellys there too. But the main thing is the staff and how welcoming and chipper they are even with a pub rammed full of people. It has a lift so is accessible (unsure about loos, maybe check) and I have taken my special needs brother there before and they were more than happy for him to run around, make noise and generally get in the way, he had a lovely time. I am also pretty sure the pub is dog friendly, I've seen a couple in there, but would advise you double check first! The staff remember who we are and if you treat them well and with respect they will go out of their way to make your day a fabulous one. Could carry on and on but basically I would 10/10 recommend to anyone for...
