Possibly the smallest of the music venues in Oxford. Has been the proving ground for local bands over the years & still a good venue to see touring acts with a smaller set-up/solo acts. Access to the venue is via a narrow stairs behind the bar which can get a little cramped while waiting for the doors to open. Small stage at one end, with a bar at the rear around the corner. Sound quality is very good & the staff all friendly. Beer is a bit pricey (think London prices) but reasonable choice available. Worth keeping an eye on who's playing.

The place where Radiohead started. And you can still hear it. The spacious ground floor is ideal for those who don't like cramped conditions but love beer. You can also buy beer on the first floor. Sometimes it seems that it's not a playlist playing from the speakers, but the ghosts of young bands: Supergrass, Foals, Ride... History on the walls, sound in the air, locals in the room. Without pathos, but with character. If you're not looking for medieval Oxford, this is it.

This is a lovely pub in Jericho, with wonderful staff, lovely ambience and good food (and drinks). We visited here on Tuesday evening and thoroughly enjoyed the 2-for-1 burger. We chose the Chicken Katsu and Crispy chicken breast burgers. Both of them were tasty. For sides, I will definitely recommend Corn. The sweet corn is one of the best I have ever had. The butter & spices made the corn incredible. Will definitely recommend it to everyone in Oxford.

Probably the worst pub management I've seen, or should I say "lack of management" instead! We booked a table for 5 people a week in advance to watch the rugby. When we arrived, the table with our name was for 4. The waitress did not know what to do, "I can give you an extra chair". That would have been okay if there wasn't a table right next to us...She dissapeared, not kknowing how to handle it. We had to sort it out by speaking to another costumers who kindly swapped with us. There was no apology from staff regarding this whatsoever. Half of the selection of beers were not available. This was a rugby match day...on a Saturday..!! The pub wasn't even busy, yet the wait to order anything at the bar was ridiculous! We got told when we ordered food that it would take up to an hour and that the kitchen was open until 10pm. The food when it arrived, was quite nice despite the long wait. However when we went to order more food at around 16h, the waitress at the bar said that the kitchen closed at 16.45...But we were told that the kichen was open non-stop until 10pm? Anyway, it was 16.10h, couldn't they make our food in 35 minutes? since we just wanted some chips? Then another member of staff overheard us and said that there was only one chef and that he was there all day long and that he needed a break. I asked her "so can we order food now or not?". Their answer was "there is no chef now". I have never seen this level of bad management in a pub, so unprepared and so unprofessional. It was a Saturday, and it was a rubgy day on a Saturday. If you don't have the capacity to offer what you advertise, you should warn the customers. Definetely not...

I’ve never met more cohesively rude staff. I work with venues for a living.

Do not book this venue.

I don’t normally write reviews, but you’re not remembered for the rules you keep, and I feel so abashed by the hospitality here that I felt it may be kind to write a bad review.

Where do I start? I don’t want to waste your time with a books worth of ill feeling, so I’ll start with a poignant example.

I was trying to re-enter the establishment after I was kicked out of the garden. I had mine and a friends drink in my hand and wasn’t able to open the door. A waitress came to the windowed door, recognised my gesture to open the door and reached out to open the door, before retracting and walking away.

I think this sums up the general attitude of the staff.

I was attending an event of which the finale was unexpectedly axed because of a last minute break down in communication, which happened during the event, between the organisers and the venue.

The unexpected end to the event was spectacular, fashioned by the sound engineer who was undeniably intentionally awful, where by he cut the music slightly before the allotted time and refused to let the organisers thank the disappointed crowd for their attendance and explain that the final act couldn’t play.

The whole experience with the venue was hysterically awful and I wouldn’t urge anyone to spend a penny here unless for the potentially...

In a rather astonishing display of ā€˜how not to run a bar’, Sam somehow managed to make himself look like he’d stepped into his first day as a failed GCSE hospitality worker, not only this; but in a jaw-dropping clown-show of ineptitude, he managed to single-handedly display how he’d be out of his depth running a bath. Never before have I witnessed someone so laughably Inexperienced in bar management.

The other staff we encountered were excellent, so much so that we had planned to leave a glowing review, however this was abruptly ruined by Sam who (we can only assume wanted to close early) accused one of our party of being drunk. This was simply not the case. He wouldn’t actually state which one of us was ā€˜drunk’ as that would have meant justifying his childish, Trump-like behaviour. He then went off and hid. The staff were embarrassed and we were left bemused. It was bizarre.

In short, Sam ruined a perfectly good evening because he wanted to go home. We spoke with the staff who all agreed that he’d quite clearly made a fool out of himself.

It later transpires (one of the staff told us) that Sam was ā€˜in a bad mood as he wasn’t meant to be working tonight’, this was very evident.

We’ll be speaking with the team at M&B on Monday to discuss this further, they clearly need to be aware that they have someone so laughably inexperienced...
