Rye Bay Fish — Local services in Rother

The guys were nice and very happy to help but the tarted up woman on the counter who was horrid really let the place down. She had nail polish on (which I always thought was unhygenic) and went from the fish to the cooked prawns without washing her hands and yes she picked everything up without using gloves!! I asked her for advice on the scallops - it being the scallop festival weekend it seemed likley they'd get asked and she flatly stated 'just cook them' rather uninspiring and what I'd call rude. Even my children commented that she wasn't very helpful. It is a shame as she was totally in contrast to the men working behind her who over heard me asking for assistance with filleting and lept in to sort it out for me. I just wish they'd heard me ask about the scallops! As there are other fish mongers and ones that are polite and offer a smile I doubt I will return to this one unless I see someone els serving - as we traveled from Ashford specifically and intended to purchase a good deal - her attitude and poor hygene made me reconsider - we bought just a small selection and as we all have bad tummies today (bar the one person who had no prawns) I doubt we...

Thanks so much to Rye Bay fish ... customer service that goes beyond! On Friday we were traveling from Cornwall to Rye for a family celebration. Due to traffic issues we were unable to get there before The shops closing time! One kind gentleman From Rye fisheries delivered our order to the house we were renting . When we arrived the box was on the door step with all the fish stored in ice. A little later the same gentleman from Rye fish came back in his car to check we had received our order and that everything was okay ‘ The mussels , prawns and monkfish were absolutely top quality and I made a fabulous paella with my order! I stopped here on my way to Dover Castle because I love smoked fish, I took a couple of pieces of smoked salmon and wanted to try the prawns but I had just eaten a big breakfast. On my way back I was hungry and stopped to try the prawns and God Almighty am I glad I did.
