I’m slightly baffled by the reviews of this place based on my trip. First the good, it has a great selection of drinks - excellent local beers and a ‘proper’ cocktail menu. The house red (Tempranillo) I had was also very good. I also have to say the general vibe of the place is pretty cool. However, the food is VERY average and yet priced at mid-high end restaurant level. We had a ‘sizzling prawn and chorizo’ starter in a Heinz tomato soup-like, sickly sweet sauce and some insipid ‘chilli squid’ that looked like it hadn’t been fried on both sides. We then had some kind of fish platter that was brought on the most ridiculous and unusable plate I’ve ever seen, although the fish was ok (though v standard smoked salmon, mackerel pate etc). I had an overcooked lamb chop (£23!) on a bed of supermarket couscous and an absurdly bland tzatziki (guys - yogurt, mint and cucumber really isn’t that hard to make taste fresh and lively). We then had ice cream which tasted freezer burnt or stale. To be fair, if we’d been paying decent pub prices (£16-18 mains) I might have let this all go - but pushing some way over the £20 mark for mains means it needs to be much better. Definitely recommend for a pint or a cocktail, but...

Great quirky pub This is a favourite haunt of ours just out of the main town on Military road on right as you go over the bridge. Theres no actual bar and the layout is quirky there's a large beer garden and friendly staff. The food is local sourced and caters for all . When available recommend the soft shelled crabs. For real ale drinkers local beers and good selection of gins and wines. The French rose being a favourite of ours. The portions are big the veal which I had with pak choi was lovely, the pork chop what my partner had was massive.parking is on the street outside. Some people may think its pricey, but you get what you pay for. A quirky little pub for a drink and meal. Well worth a visit.

A warm welcome from Marta, Zoe and staff. It's the Rye Bay Scallop Festival and Globe In The Marsh are participating, on their menu are a choice of 5 starters. I went for Garlic and lemon Scallops, my wife went for Scallops on Pea puree and Bacon. I had Minted Romney Marsh Lamb Pie, my wife had vegetarian pizza thin and crispy base. Washed down with a bottle of Prosseco and sparkling mineral water. Great service , good portion size and a menu to suit everyone. We'll...

I had burrata started so lovely Main I had Wood fired aubergine dish which was undercooked and that was all with a sauce and rocket piled on top with a side of triple cooked chips which where ok Iate a fewchips but could not eat the aubergine as was too tough and undercooked When eventually our plates cleared I had to say about the aubergine as not happy Apologies and would feed back to chef Then we did not see waiter or have Another conversation then asked for the bill and my aubergine dish was charged on the bill to my disappointment!! So asked waiter if he had fed back ? He said he had and chef apologised but forgot to take it off the bill and someone else had also said the same I was left feeling really slighted not listened to and disregarded and will not return and something a never do is I did not leave a tip as for the sake of £9 for this dish One get the veggie food right and two if get it wrong acknowledge and rectify are...

Lovely looking pub off the main stretch from Rye center. Took my mate out who has a disability and even though there were no real disabled access to the premises the staff were accomodating and found us a table suitable for lunch. Now before I make a bad comment about the food I'd like to add the staff were amazing. Now, the food. I know it was a Sunday on a bank holiday weekend but the 10oz Sirloin with chips and sundries was £27....I cannot excuse that price for what we ate, it's £10 over priced even on their best day. The chips were standard whole sale which I believe we're meant to be tripple fried, the steak tough as old boots and was a hard job to cut without a steak knife. The tomato and mushrooms were just standard grilled and I honestly wish I had taken a picture of it next to the pricing of the menu. Love to try the place again and see what the other food is like as the place was busy and I presume it was for good reason, unfortunately for food quality and pricing on what we do ordered I just couldn't see it. Thanks for the service though guys was ten out of ten.

We went for a Sunday roast there and I'll start with the positives - the staff were welcoming and friendly, and the vibes of the pub were nice, if on the quirkier side. The roast beef cost £23 and the lamb £26 so not at all cheap and not commensurate with the quality of food we received. The meat was bang average and neither the lamb or beef was pink, though it was really let down by the sides. The potatoes managed to be both dry and soggy (quite a feat) - having clearly been sitting around for some time, similar for the yorkshire pudding which was burnt and dry, and the green vegetables were unseasoned and undercooked to the point of raw (and this is coming from someone who generally prefers them a bit al dente). So would not reccommend for a Sunday roast, and to be honest was really disappointed given how much they charged for it (which should put it in the higher end).
