Visiting family back in Scotland for a few weeks travelling from Australia. Originally from Scotland but lived over there for 10 years now. Been playing golf with family for the last 3 weeks all over. Kilspindie, Gullane, Dunbar, Lundin, Crail Balcombe where we were let through on numerous occasions by slower groups. Played Cardrona, the braids, Broomieknowe, Musselburgh old course which were all in great condition the list goes on. Played here yesterday in a 2 ball and my god it was up there with the worst round I've played. My brother recommended it but I was not impressed at all. The course was in terrible condition, Ive played many a council course in Scotland and Australia that are in far better condition. For 45 pound a round I was pretty shocked. But the worst thing to happen was the speed of play. It was slow most of the way but by the time we reached the 9th there was a 4 ball on green, 4 ball on tee, 4 ball waiting beside tee then myself and my brother then a single player behind us with another single player coming up the 8th. We played that hole then walked off as the play was just to slow. The single player behind and the 4 ball Infront who were all members were saying it was pretty slow and to go speak to the pro in the shop when leaving. After paying 45 pound I thought that was fair, unfortunately he didn't want to know a bar of it basically just dismissing me as its my choice to walk off and no one had called the shop to complain off slow play. Later on found out the groups Infront were a senior stable Ford so of course they wouldn't phone through. All in all a terrible experience and for the money there's plenty courses out there that will give you a far better links experience than this place both on service and definitely course enjoyability...

This was fine, but then we were told to order the meal at the bar too, even tho we hadn't seen the menu. Asked if we could sit at our (booked) table to look at the menu. This was fine, but then the waitress started speaking to someone else, so after looking like the idiot family for a while, we asked if we should just sit anywhere. (Lots of free tables on a Saturday night when everything else was fully booked. Should have been a warning ). We were then told that our table was by the window and to just take a seat. We sat, decided on our food and waited. We then remembered that she told us to order at the bar, so we made our way there, she was on her way down with someone else's order and told us to sit down. She would be with us soon. We sat, orders taken, everything great. My chicken spring roll came and it was burnt at the ends and stone cold in the middle. Got it changed and it was still very very black on the outside but it was hot in the middle. The burger mains were quite tasty, and the young girl (under 18 because she couldn't take our drink orders), was very good. Unfortunately, the other 2 members of staff just didn't want to know. We were on holiday, and it was supposed to be a last night treat, but it was a challenge to eat the food and leave a tip. No hint of apology and no hint of decent service. Will definitely not recommend to anyone. And I feel that I was...
Read moreBeing a golfer who, over the years, regularly makes a pilgrimage to the home of golf, the most satisfying thing for me has been to take a small step away from the well known classics and start to discover the abundunce and excellence of the courses this small part of the world has to offer. It's actually quite amazing. From this course you could hit a wild ball and land on atleast another two completely separate 18 holers. Great example of a links course! And if on the day, which I would think is probably most days, you're playing against that Scottish coastal wind, you'll most definitely get that experience of playing pure, traditional Scottish links golf. As well as some of it's neighbours, this course guarantees a great...
