Can't award 5 stars until I've tried an evening meal here, but we tried the lunch menu today and it was lovely. £8.50 for 2 courses (choice of soup/appetiser/main, with all 3 for an extra £2) with a good selection of options - I had chicken and sweetcorn soup then king prawn chow mein. There were 2 options for the chow mein, wet or dry - the wet option is close to what you'd expect with a takeaway, but much nicer! Less greasy and a lot more vegetables, with some really nice sized prawns. The customary basket of prawn crackers seemed to be freshly made, and the drink prices were fairly standard at £2.20 for a half of Fosters or Strongbow, with bottles of wine starting at £15.50. Service was friendly and efficient, and they seemed willing to package up any leftovers for people to take home (not that we had any left over!) One slight oddity was that if you choose not to use the provided chopsticks (like my husband did), you are only given a fork, no knife! I'd be quite happy to go again and can...
Read moreHave eaten takeaway chicken in green pepper and black bean sauce here numerous times, it's consistently very tasty and authentic. The dish is made correctly, chicken fresh not pre processesed stodge like other takeaways and not overcooked. The egg fried rice was fluffy, not oily.
This restaurant as it should, does this dish better quality than Jim's chinese takeaway( very salty, peppers soggy, inside front door needs wash) or Old Town Chinese takeaway( average).
It has a luxurious Chinese interior with imperial style wooden tables and chairs. It looks like an excellent experience to dine at.
If you are after authentic taste, I suggest you don't have the Thai chicken green curr, stick to Chinese style dishes. I've had realThai curry hundreds of times and their one sadly shared...
Read moreAwful experience. Phoned in advance to book a table, was taken to a table where we had a fork and no other cutlery yet every other table had chopsticks, knives etc. We were sat waiting for drinks that we could see on the bar, one other table in the whole restaurant and three staff members yet no one brought drinks, I had to ask a member of staff to get them from the bar. Takeaway orders are clearly a priority for this restaurant as we were ignored the majority of the time. Food was served and we had no cutlery, again we had to go up and ask for the basics as no one seemed to be bothered. Food was great, no complaints. It was a birthday and I believe the restaurant knew we were upset at this point so brought out a little cake which was a nice gesture. Overall extremely poor service,...
