Stansted Mountfitchet Windmill — Local services in Uttlesford

A classic worth supporting. Aim for a bank holiday weekend when they are open (check first!). Good people with great intentions and fantastic knowledge of the windmill and local history. A great example of a bygone era 1787 handily situated 2 mins walk from the main road. Not very well signposted until you're right on top of it, but a great 5-10mins visit that's free. Small and cute windmill, I'm not sure if it's in use though. Not a huge landmark but there is a nice grassy area and bench. I think once or twice a month on Sundays during the summer they open it up so you can go inside and have some kind of tour - I haven't done it but really nice that that's offered for the community.
