First time at wood grill stanstead, Needed a nice meal out so we thought we go here. Would of loved to give this more stars, but sadly our first time at restaurant we was very disappointed with the portion size and some of our meal,,,as no salad with steak as described sauces are very tiny not enough to indulge with ur meal,, Fillet steak was cooked lovley best we had in a while,, could been tiny bit bigger for the price , gutted with the salad in summer months salad was few leaves and half cherry tomatoe with nice chips. Our prawn starter came to £30 for about 10 shelled prawns in tomatoe sauce cause we had a small and large we was expecting just a few more for the price,, .we had to peel the prawns in the tomatoes sauce with our fingers should of been marinated perhaps and shelled so you can get stuck in ,,;0)) bit disappointed for the £30 for the prawns although cooked OK. Manager also very polite gave me a complimentary drink on arrival due to having No tia maria in the bar, we was still charged for tia maria not kalua ,, The complimentary drink was also put on our bill at the end I was quite surprised didn't realise till I got home. Had cheesecake asked for small bit cream or bit icecream would gone well for the £7.50 as was dry,,, never got the cream as started to get busy in the restaurant I'm bit gutted as nice place our meal wasn't worth the £150.00 for 2 what was ordered I would of payed double that if the quality was there....
Read moreAs a family we visited on a Friday evening for our daughters birthday meal. Our daughter and partner have eaten at the restaurant previously whereas this was my first experience. The welcome was friendly and our server for the night, Lynn, took our drinks order in a timely manner. Lynn was professional, friendly and super accommodating throughout the evening. Our daughter has certain food intolerances and Lynn did everything in her power to ensure my adult daughter enjoyed the experience too, including the ubiquitous, but nonetheless enjoyable, staff rendition of singing happy birthday and presenting her with a suitable dessert a la candle. The menu has a strong meat bias, which wasn’t unexpected given the restaurant name and theme, but also catered for other diets too. I thoroughly enjoyed my spicy chicken wings starter, just enough heat to give a pleasant buzz without numbing the palate. My Fat Pat double burger was, for my liking, grilled to perfection being medium rare and the vanilla crème brûlée ended the evening very pleasantly indeed. Each member of our party enjoyed without reservation the food presented. The final bill was reasonable based on the food quality, the staff interaction and the general ambience. Lynn is a credit to the restaurant. Thoroughly recommended and another outing already in...
