My wife and I visited The Cork House for the first time on Saturday and were surprised to find that we were the only people in the dining room, although there were a couple of people in the bar. At first we thought we had picked the wrong place, but then we had the starters and realised that this was exactly where we wanted to be! I had the garlic prawns and my wife had the deep fried brie, and we agreed that they were very, very good! For mains, I had the pie of the day - steak and ale and awesome! The meat just fell apart as soon as my fork went near it, and it was packed full too! My wife had steak and triple cooked chips and she was blown away by the quality - it was cooked exactly as she likes it - medium rare. The staff were helpful and friendly although prices generally a bit pricey. I enjoyed the evening and...

Some potatoes were raw in the middle. I suggested they tell chef that if he wants to provide al dente potatoes he should: a) advise this on the menu and, b) ensure his potatoes are all the same size to ensure a consistent product. Roasted Carrots were also al dente, they were very tasty but too hard. Nice piece of seabass, good pie, fab Chardonnay Pleasant staff. I would recommend it - but...
