Meatmart - Astley — Local services in Wigan

Regular shopper at this market and its a great place to buy fresh meat and especially a big range of chicken dishes. There's also a large range of ready meals and freshly prepared susages. There is a small selection of frozen food - that has all the basics - and even has a small range of biscuits. The staff are helpful and friendly and there are real bargains to be had, especially if you buy larger quantities of the products on display. The market is on the small side and doesn't have a loo, but there's a large free car park and it's only 2 minutes away from A580 East Lancashire Road...

We visited this morning at 10am, store wasn't busy only 1 other couple shopping. 1 assistant refilling a fridge.. we browsed the store working are way round the freezers and the assistants cage trolley. When we reached the till. The assistant simply said what have you got and didn't even bother to lift items out of the trolley. There was no good morning or did you find everything you needed, she was more interested in talking to another employee who butted in talking about some basket fittings. Very unprofessional and rude. I cannot rate this place highly enough. I turned up on a Sunday morning looking for undressed checken wings and wihtin 15 minutes I had enough to feed my whole office - even though they don't actually sell plain,. undressed wings. They were even trimmed so i didn't have to do it myself! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help me. The selection in the frideges was extensive and the prices were much better than your local supermarket or butcher could offier. I will definatiely be shopping here for all of my meat in future.
