We chose Nelson Kitchen and Bath after researching and reading reviews of many local contractors in the area. We knew that it had to be a quality operation from customer recommendations, however we had no idea the quality and care we would receive during our project. When we first met Ray Nelson, it was clear that he ran a professional, well organized business. He listened carefully to our plan and provided a free basic estimate after coming to our house. His patience to our questions and professionalism far exceeded any other contractor we talked to.

After providing the down payment for detailed drawings (which went toward the cost of our renovation) our project started moving along very quickly. Ray explained every step in the process very thoroughly and was always available – by phone, email and in person. He provided a cell phone number and answered any time of any day. Ray has an extensive network of local businesses for supplies and building materials. When choosing products, he personally met us at the showrooms and helped guide us in our choices. It was helpful to actually see the products - such as fixtures, tile, flooring and lighting – rather than choose from a magazine or online program. He allowed us to make our own decisions yet provided support when needed.

The entire team at Nelson Kitchen and Bath was outstanding. They worked together and worked flawlessly as a team. The project was rather large and on a tight timeline. They were focused, efficient and remained on schedule. We added several unplanned projects as the project progressed such as recessed lighting and door knobs (a lot of doorknobs…). They always were professional and were able to accommodate us and not compromise their time frame to start the next job.

There were never any surprises of any type. Payments were requested on a “percentage of completion” schedule. This provided a sense of security as we could see the progression and high quality of their work. Ray was upfront with all costs and stayed within the predetermined budget.

The quality of the work provided far exceeded our expectations. Our project included complete demolition and remodeling of the kitchen and master bath as well as recessed lighting and drywall repairs throughout the entire house and updating of outdated fixtures. The team also had to coordinate with our painter and flooring company which was done with ease. Seeing the renovation move through concept to completion was an amazing experience. From our first meeting, Ray captured our vision regarding the end result that we were hoping to achieve within our budget. Julie is an incredibly talented and innovative designer who took ideas and inspirational photos we provided and created a design that’s unique to us and our needs, functional, and absolutely beautiful. We hired Nelson Kitchen and Bath to design and construct a significant multi-floor renovation at our home, including kitchen, dining, living, family room, powder room, office, master bedroom, bathroom and closet as well as hall bathroom and basement powder room. Owner Ray Nelson and Interior Designer Julie Kramer guided us through the design process - always listening to our preferences and respectfully offering advice. The project began on time and exactly as scheduled. The construction crew was professional and efficient. The work continued on schedule until suspended by the Governor's order related to the pandemic. When work was permitted to resume, Ray's team did so quickly and safely. We communicated continuously throughout the process. Most importantly, we recognize Nelson Kitchen and Bath as a company of the utmost integrity. Construction is complex. There were a few times during the project that either the results were not satisfactory or we initiated a construction change. In those moments, Ray worked with us to resolve the conditions to our satisfaction. Ultimately, the project was completed on budget and in accordance with our adjusted schedule.
