Review update: I left my original review on the bottom so people can see what I used to feel about this place. I was a regular. Came in almost every day. Now I don't go anymore. The last time I went in, I had a list of 3 pokemon cards I needed to complete a set. I was in earlier that day with a list and missed those 3 when making it. I went in 10 min before they were technically closed. They still had a tournament going on past close. I went up to Ackurate because he helped me earlier, and he was the guy behind the counter at the time. He's usually very nice and helpful, but man, did he get angry and displeased with my 3 card list I brought in 10 min before they closed. Enough so that he said this better not take more than 8 minutes to find. Then, he walked off with the list, expressing loudly how he was so inconvenienced to find the 3 cards. I'm sorry I liked this place enough to want to come in with my family and spend my money on the cards that you guys are selling. I even tried to help since I saw one of the cards in the case, but that seemed to aggravate him more. When he was finished looking, I was ready to check out, but instead of ringing me out, he rang out one of the employees. Idk if that was to get at me for coming in so close to closing time and inconveniencing him, but it sure felt that way. I stopped coming in after that because I'm not going to shop at a place that makes me feel like a bad guy for wanting to spend my money there. I know it was close to closing time but that shouldn't matter. It's not like a restaurant. It really sucks because I did like coming in, but you just don't treat your customers that way. Especially ones you see come in that frequently. I would've looked for the cards myself, but I was told to bring in a list if I needed bulk cards, and they would find them for me.
Great place if you love Pokemon. The employees are nice and very helpful. Prices are reasonable, and their trade/buying...
Read moreI will preface this with I have always had awesome experiences with Yeti. Passionate staff, very kind, and always willing to talk to you about the topics you have questions about. My husband and I started collecting Pokemon again this year and Yeti has been my go-to shop for the reasons listed above.
However, Yeti is 45 minutes away from us, despite this we thought it was great enough to drive. Today, we made our way over and arrived 1.5 hours before closing. We had planned on trading in some more expensive cards we have to be able to buy an expensive card we had been looking for. We were told they were done for the day. (It would be nice to have a policy posted for when you plan on stopping for the day, so people like us don't travel far for no reason.)
One of the employees we usually talk to who always gives us amazing customer service, agreed to look at 4 of my most expensive cards for store credit. The manager proceeded to stop him. We decided to leave. We were both pretty disappointed, especially after how far we drove and being loyal customers, to be blown off like that.
All that to say, I'll be staying local or going to some other shops in St Louis from now on. Hope this may change someone's experience...
Read moreI was referred to Vince (the owner) by a number of people for vintage Pokemon card evaluation. We spent almost 2 hours going through about 150 cards from the late 90s/early 2000s. It didn't take long for me to realize why so many people recommend him!
You can tell he loves what he does the second you sit down with him. He's extremely knowledgeable and made me feel right at home in his shop. I went in with a pretty good idea of value, and everything he said was in line with my research. He was able to thoroughly explain the reasons why some cards wouldn't be valued as high as expected (whether it be scratches, whitening, etc.), and educated me on what to look for. Never once did I feel pressured to sell, and he advised getting multiple opinions before making any kind of decision.
This shop gets a 10/10. It's great to see so many people come together for the shared love of Pokemon. The whole experience brought me back to the early 2000's; when I was 10 years old and trading at the local Wizards of the Coast store....
